Hi from Michigan

Caseville, okay, that's just on the other side of the "thumb" from Port Hope. You said you were east of Port Huron, but east is Canada, so I was thinking you meant north, up the lakeshore way. But we're talking of stuff in the same general area! :D One thing our family did as soon as we moved to Michigan was travel it. We were homeschooling our kids at the time, so we had such smooth and tourist-free stays all the way up to the U.P. in the Fall. I just love all the beautiful spots in this state; I'm a huge fan of maritime, and with the Great Lakes, we got lots of that!

Did I say east :oops

The first time I saw the great lakes, I was reminded of the ocean! I'm originally from the west coast and only moved to Michigan maybe 13 years ago for my sweetheart :twolove

I haven't really done to much traveling within the state. I've been to Traverse City, Bay City, Algonac and all around the general Metropolitan of Detroit. Ohh, and my wife took me to the sand dunes last year on the "West" side of the state. That was pretty cool!

We've got a few friends that homeschool at our church. I wonder if you know of any of them? (I'll send you a PM)

Jeff

My gosh, this gets more and more interesting, doesn't it? You're from the west coast, too? You moved here only two years before we did! I was born in Washington state, lived in Oregon for five years, and the rest in Cali. But we traveled a good deal as a family of four - my husband and I and our two kids - and the Lord eventually led us to Michigan. People used to ask us "Why did you move from California?" And I always asked them in return, "Have you ever been in California?" And invariably, they said, "No." I told them not to believe what they saw on television! :lol

Ha! I can't believe what I'm reading!

My Dad was born and raised in St. Maries Idaho and then moved to Spokane. Believe it or not, my grandfather is from Midland Mi! Imagine our surprise when we found that out! (My wife does geneology and broke the code!)

All of my family is from Spokane (don't tell me your from Spokane :lol ) and I normally try to do a road trip a year back there :yes I've lived in the Seattle area and my first wife was from Vancouver Wa.

I was about 17 the first time I went to L.A. Huntington beach was the first California beach I'd seen, and it was the first time I'd seen the ocean. I've lived in Huntington Beach, Hollywood, San Bernidino and lastly Gardena. As far as northern Ca, I've lived in San Jose, Lodi and Sunnyvale.

I once even took a hippie bus called the green tortoise from San Francisco to Hollywood, like yeah man, it's cool :shades (Think Billy Idol, Eyes without a face) :rolling

Oh, I've also lived in Tuscon, Mobile Al, New Orleans, Pensacola Fla and good old Valdosta Ga.

It IS a small world! No, I wasn't born in Spokane, but it itty-bitty Monroe, Snohomish county. I lived in southern and central Cali, and had family in northern Cali.

That sounds groovy! :lol

We traveled the US and eastern Canada as a family some years back, and lived for a short time in Virginia, Maine and Prince Edward Island, Canada.

Traveling is GREAT. It really makes you appreciate things, and you eventually realize the similarities in people more than the differences. And I am happy being settled in the Great Lakes now. :thumb
