Hi there! My name is Jenna and I'm from New Zealand.

I'm looking forward to exploring the community and growing my Christian faith.

I was 12 when my parents decided they wanted to go to church and I loved it so much. I joined the music team and youthgroup and loved it, until the church got a new minister. He was always talking about hell. At one youthgroup camp, he asked us all to close our eyes and imagine those we love burning in hell - he was very graphic about describing it to us all, some young children only 12 years old! I remember being so scared of going to hell I would physically punish myself for sinning, believing God's forgivness wasn't enough.

Long story short, I left the church and tried to push God out of my life, unable to love the One I was terrified of. Until I met my boyfriend and his parents. They are the most gentle, loving Christians and have shown me that God is more than punishment. My boyfriend and I have joined a church and I pray God will open my heart to accept Him fully, without fear.

How are you doing?

On the subject you mentioned, it's interesting that the Lord Jesus in the Gospels mentions hell far more than heaven. I'm sure there's a reason for the Savior to do this.
