I recently left Christianity. I was born into it so as a child i didn't really have a choice and i believed everything my parents said. Now that i am in college i get to think for myself and i started to question my religion. I found no concrete evidence of a God, so after a few weeks of really thinking about it i found that i didn't really believe, but i am still open, so i would consider myself Agnostic.

This inst a choice, i know it sounds weird, but it is not my choice to be this way, i just cant put myself to truly believe. I want to believe, i really do, but this is something i have to convince myself of, i can't just start believing.

I have come here seeking God, but from what i have seen, i don't find it likely i will find him. After so many years i have asked God to show himself to me, and have not received an answer. I will probably post some questions to see how Christians would explain some of the questions im having.

So hopefully i will find some answers here. I have joined an Agnostic forum, and i will probably join an Atheist forum just so i can see all sides of the argument.

Another quick thing, does anyone have some good book suggestions, i would like to start reading Agnostic, Atheist, and Christian books so i can make a good, informed decision

Welcome Chris in the name of Jesus to CF Ministries. Because you've recently left christianity by your stated post, please understand that some forums you're not allowed in...they're christian only. But we have many other forums to learn in, and one on one debate forums also.

Since you were raised Christian, then please use [as we say] and you probably remember "The Fruits of the Spirit" when communicating with any/all people here saved or unsaved please. Please read the forums rules on the ones you're allowed in before entering to avoid any confusion, or misunderstanding.

Have a wonderful time in getting aquainted again in a new relationship with Christ....I hope this in Christ. Coming from where I came from in life, God was the Best thing to come into my life, and opened a new world up to me....I hope you find the same Truth I have.

Welcome :wave

If you spend some time really pouring though this website, I think you'll find you don't need to join agnostic and atheistic boards. There are plenty of opposing view points here.

If you would be so kind to reply, I wonder if you would acknowledge that colleges (in the U.S. anyway) are liberal and don't fairly address opposing points of view. Evolution is treated as a law rather than the theory it is for example. Would you agree this is the case at your college? I did at mine, and it forced me to ask serious questions about my faith. But you can't expect to get those from typical college profs.

Seek and you will find. Sincerely and honestly seek the Truth, and He will keep His promise to you. :amen

A good book to read is by Josh McDowell, "Evidence that Demands a Verdict". You asked, so I'm just suggesting :twocents

Blessings in your search for the Truth. Please give us a praise report when you find It!!!

Welcome to the site! :wave

It's good you're searching for the Truth. I hope you will find it. A good place to start is the Bible. :)

I haven't read it but Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis I believe is very good. Also, World Religions & Cults 101 by Bruce Bickel and Steve Jantz is very good.

Hi Chris, I'm glad you're here. If you want to believe in God, and you want to find the truth, then I have faith that it will happen. I know a lot of people that were brought up Christian, but never really had a relationship with Jesus (myself included). Sometimes it takes an actual life changing event for you to feel the presence of God, and then you will know that He's real and that He loves you. That's how it happened with me. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to try and answer them. :P

Welcome, it is a well known fact that young people that start college, usually come out losing their faith. You kind of left the world of parents and their teaching to a world that is looking to devour you.. keep looking, reading , talking and above all else "praying"... also welcome to the site, lots of interesting topics and people... :wave
