Hey guys I just wanted to let u know that on a different forum people told me I'm going to hell for blaspheming the holy ghost so I just wanted to get a second opinion. My trouble started when I screamed I love Jesus in my community and my neighbors started cursing god so horribly the next morning and I can't get blasphemous thoughts out of my mind. I love god with all my heart and I did some research and it says the unforgivable sin could a only been committed in Jesus day so guys let me get your honest opinion if you guys and gals think about my situation and me going to hell and stuff thanks love you all god bless and my name is Alex :chokedup

Hi Llama, welcome to the forum. If you love God, the chance that you have committed the unforgivable sin is pretty much nil... The unforgivable sin comes when one is fully aware that God is acting and then attributing those actions to Satan or otherwise trying to convinces others that God is not moving in some way. The reason why this is a sin against the Holy Spirit is because it would only be by the revelation of the Holy Spirit that one would be so certain of God's actions...

What you describe doing doesn't even come close to any kind of blasphemy, much less blasphemy of the Holy Spirit... although it does sound as if you annoyed some non-Christian neighbors.

I truly encourage you to really begin to read the Bible... the Bible is trustworthy as being God's word to us and within it we can begin to understand how to please God. One of the most important things that the Bible teaches us is that we are to love God with all our heart. Jesus said that this is the first and foremost of all the commandments, and you are already there!

Being a part of a solid Christian church where other Christians can encourage you and help you in your walk is also good. Forums like these... well, hopefully you can learn from folks here, just be aware that we're an open forum, so all kinds of folks with all kinds of points of view will be voicing opinions.

Naturally, the best way to sort out all what you learn from others, in your community, your neighborhood, your church and in forums, is to take everything back to the Scriptures and examine it more closely.

Oh man thank you so much for your kind reply I was worried for some time I even stopped going to church after people on the other forum told me to enjoy hell, I did read the bible yesterday I'm reading kings one of my favorite and thanks for encouraging me in the lord and hope he blesses you

The unforgivable sin is turning away from God. The reason it is unforgivable is because the barer does not wish to be forgiven; they have cursed God. This is more than just being angry at God, or saying or thinking something negative about God. This is an absolute rejection of God, and so it can't be forgiven because of what it is, and so it is the unforgivable sin.

You said you love God, so it's obvious you have not utterly rejected God.

I would like to add to the post by Brother Danus and state that it is not only turning away from God, but doing so before a person ever receives Jesus as their Savior.

The work of the Holy Spirit is told us John 16:8 And when He is come, He will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment. Them of Heb 6:6, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame did fall away. They had partook of the word, they had witnessed the miracles, and yet never believed on Him. Jesus died once to sin cleansing forever them that believe and to deny that is to crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh; there is no other means for them to be saved. They are dead and without hope.

Thanks so much guys and gals I love the lord with all my heart but whenever I hear my neighbors outside I keep remembering how they curse god so I think negative thoughts about god but I'm always quick to apologize to the lord and I like to praise him a lot. I also wanted to add that I asked god to give me a sign if I'm not going to hell I randomly said lord if you're real ring my ear and for the past ear lord rang my ear 759 times once my ear rang 17 times in one day I feel so loved and blessed by god and its even hard for myself to believe that god gives me signs everyday I guess he's showing me he forgives me

This idea of blaspheming the Holy Spirit comes from the book of Hebrews in the sixth chapter. The writer is explaining that if you have received the spirit of Christ and then reject Him there is no forgiveness. It has been said that the historical evidence behind that saying was that Jewish believers that had confessed Jesus and had received the blessings of that relationship would later turn back to Judaism. The process of reverting back involved sprinkling the blood of a dog on the ground and then walk on the blood declaring that "the blood of Christ is as the blood of a dog". When you denounce the blood of Christ then you are left with nothing. There is no other way but through Jesus and His blood.

Seriously, if anyone committed that sin, they certainly would not be concerned about it or be posting here about it.
