History of the Inquisitions

The selection of Torquemada, as Lea admits, "justified the wisdom of the sovereigns." He commenced with calm energy to reform and reorganize the Holy Office.
Sounds like a prisoner would stand a better chance under Torquemada than in the "torture-perversion-and-pornography" concentration camps at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo, for example. Among other things, Torquemada prevented any sexual abuse of prisoners - and his prisoners were actually put on trial, unlike the supposed "terrorists" held for years without trial by the US and UK.

OK, I'm not judging, I'm simply putting the truth out, here.
Sounds like YOU, sir, or madam, are a liberal, who hates the soldiers and marines of the U.S. military, who were noble men and women.
Their trial was a ridiculous, liberal-backed idiocy.
Hmmm...do you happen to live anywhere on the WEST coast?

Actually, most of the worst tortures of the Inquisition were not done by the Inquisitors themselves, but the secular government--such as burning to the stake and execution for heresy. The Inquisition was put in place because the secular government was too harsh on heretics, from what I recall.

...though if the secular authorities acted too leniently, they themselves faced excommunication (Walsh p.237).

Killing in last-ditch attempts to defend Christendom is one thing, killing to do financial and political favors for non-Christians quite another. In his own way, Torquemada understood the difference - while Congress obviously doesn't.

Not everyone who disagrees with US policy in the Middle East is a "liberal". Also, there's no reason to "hate" the soldiers of the US military for doing their jobs, especially as the porn videos of Abu Ghraib were made-to-order for Rumsfeld and his buddies, with individual soldiers scapegoated (as usual) to protect the true perverts higher-up. IMHO, the Military has been deceived by the corrupt Bush Administration into fulfilling a criminal Israeli-led agenda in the Middle East.

Mic 3:10 They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity.

When the Government is illegitimate (as the current Administration is), then the Military has no duty of loyalty at all to it. In fact, it's the duty of the Military to march on DC (and Tel Aviv) and take over immediately in the name of God, Jesus, the People and the Constitution and to arrest all corrupt politicians including the President. Now that really would be "noble".
