Holiness

What is Holiness? Someone defines it as: Holiness is not cutting oneself off from this sinful 'world' - but separating oneself from 'their' sinful 'works'. Textx: 1 Cor 15:33, Lk 1:74-75, Jn 17:15-17, 2Cor 6:17-18.

God said for us to be holy. We should be like Him, talk like Him,think like Him, and have His characteristics. The Bible says to imitate Him.

However, is being like God (in Holiness) ever possible? Seems it's just to a degree :dunno :confused :shrug

You can't do it in yourself. But If God lives in you, then you yield to His leading instead of doing your own thing or own will. That's how its possible.

Classik: In and of ourselves it's impossible, but it's the merits and righteousness of the Lord Jesus, received by faith, that puts us on an acceptable standing in a holy God's sight (Romans 5.1).

Yes it is only what He has done in us and cleansed us from all sin by His blood. But we are also to walk it out also.

Galatians 5:16But I say, walk by the Spirit, and do not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh; for these are opposed to each other, to prevent you from doing what you would.

Romans 8:13For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.

"When I stand before the Throne,
Dressed in beauty not my own,
When I see Thee as Thou are,
Love Thee with unsinning heart,
Then, Lord, shall I fully know,
Not till then how much I owe."
