Honey Moon. how long

Ekklesia sounds like where the My Little Pony princess lives... NO clue what ekklesia means tough! LoL

ekklesia means called out ones, or set apart ones, referring to those who meet together to serve and worship God by faith in Jesus Christ.

Farm familes, im from that sort of place too, know the workings in and out. Guess im just not one to see a line of scripture say exemption from military service translate to take a year off from everything.

Cool video, though we didnt have the benefit of so much equipment, more actual hands were required.

If indeed you are correct, i wonder how poorer families fared living in Jerusalem itself or any other city for that matter.

I see your point. I don't see anyway without family or friends that are like family.

The KJV and YLT translation says,

Deu 24:5 When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken.
Deu 24:5 `When a man taketh a new wife, he doth not go out into the host, and one doth not pass over unto him for anything; free he is at his own house one year, and hath rejoiced his wife whom he hath taken. (?)

So I think you and others are correct that it is only talking about the military or some other type of service that would take the man away from home for an extended period of time.

Me either, I had to look it up. It wasn't there but suggested that it was mis-spelled and took me to ecclesia, which means a congregation, church...which would make sense how he used it.

Classik, brother...Yes yes yes yes yes. the entire marriage should be a honeymoon. The honeymoon isn't over when the honeymoon is over...it has only begun!

In the same vein, like when a man gets off work and goes home to his wife. The day is not over, it has begun! Working for sustenance is a means to an end, and with that out of the way for the day...the couple can begin their day.

Interesting. However, it seems people of those days were all military personnels, and were categorised into two: group A who actually went to war away from home; and group B who stayed home taking care of women and children.

So the man in Group A is relieved of duty for a year and becomes a member of Group B.

One theory about the origin of the word "honeymoon" is that the father of the bride was supposed to supply the couple with enough mead (honey wine) to last for one month. Making that last the rest of their lives sounds pretty good.

I have not seen anywhere in scripture either that talks about a "honeymoon after marrying".I have just heard the one year period by reading articles on marriage.

Isn't that precisely it...or sorta?

lol!! Well I do know that there is not anything in scripture regarding now long a honeymoon should be. How long a honeymoon period should be is probably up for speculation.

Maybe for us Christians there should be. I was alarmed when a friend of mine wedded on Saturday and the wife travel the next day. He told me the wife must have to catch up with stuff, *business*. Terrific?
