Growth How are we saved daily?

Most of us as Christians know we are saved by Jesus. But how is this done ? And what things do I have to do to ensure my salvation in Jesus is assured? I suppose most of us understand we have to pray, and read our Bibles, and repent of our sins, and perhaps share our faith or help others? These things sound OK, but are we sure that this is correct ? Could we have missed something? When I was in my youth, many years ago now, I asked the Lord for a single Bible passage that lists the chronological steps of Jesus salvation in us in the correct order we humans need. First things first. And so my friends where is this single Bible passage that lists all the things we need for salvation found in one place in Scripture? After all if the Bible is a source of Authority surely it would tell us how to be saved, and the exact requirements of Salvation listed in the correct order.

First some spelling problems in our English....most of us know our Bibles were originally written in Hebrew....and as different people translate the Bible they listened to the sounds and wrote that sound in their own language, so we have different spellings for original Hebrew words. For example Jesus. There is no "J" sound in Hebrew, but there is a "Y" sound. The most common Hebrew spelling for Jesus is Yeshua. However according to the Shem Tov of Matthew, Jesus spelling is more likely Yasha, and you can see the spelling is different. Yasha is Hebrew for the word "he saves" and that's what Jesus did, He saves us. Hebrew names were about functions rather than titles. So using different spelling is another name Hosea can also be spelled Yoshua and you will notice the similar spelling to Jesus. The book Joshua is also the same spelling as Jesus. What I find I the Book Joshua is about how a church of people are saved, and the book of Hosea (The Book of Jesus) is about how an individual Is saved. The last chapter (14) contains in one passage, the correct procedures for being saved daily by Jesus.

We have a website devoted solely to explaining this relationship we all must do daily, in the gardens of our minds, sowing seeds of Jesus and making God's fruits of character through us

.http://spiritualsprings.org/ss-776.htm A step by step reading of the passage in question. Shalom

I have a little trouble understanding this, but I do have a reply:

Romans 10:9
Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

We are not saved daily. We are saved completely and forever. However, through the Spirit, we can die daily and submit everything to God.

I do not say this as one who is holier than thou.
I say this as a sinner who needs the Holy Spirit's power within me.

A word of hope: Joyce Meyer once said that it is hard at first to obey the Holy Spirit, but after awhile it gets easier and easier... :)

Dear Brother @rthom7, my understanding of our salvation and its different aspects is as follows.

Ephesians 2:8, 9. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Now, if salvation is a gift, we can't do anything to earn it, but you read in (Philippians 2:12) that you must work out your own salvation with all fear and trembling. If God has provided this salvation as a free gift, how am I to add anything to that? There are many different ways that the word salvation is used in the Bible, such as safety from enemies, but I will limit this booklet's teaching to four aspects concerning salvation of the soul.

First - It is provisional. If you accept Jesus as your savior, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9-10) "If you say with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved, (10) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

Second - When you become saved, it is at this time that you are born again and have overcome the penalty of sin, or become saved from the great white throne judgment and the resulting lake of fire. (Repeating John 5:24), "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life." In (Romans 8:1) "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus."

Third - The working out your own salvation referred to in (Philippians 2:12) is learning to overcome the habit of sin in our lives. This is the experiencing part of our salvation and is another step in our growth as a Christian. (2 Peter 1:5-7) tells us to "Add to your faith virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness and charity." To realize this growth in our lives, we must learn to begin counting our old man dead. (Romans 6:6) "Knowing this, that our old man (The Adamic nature) is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.” (Ephesians 4:22) “That ye put off concerning the former conversation (Manner of life) the old man who is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;” (Colossians 3:9) “Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds." We all have an old man we should count as dead that still wants to rule our lives. Even though the Apostle Paul knew he was saved, he experienced all kinds of problems with the old man trying to control his life. (Romans 7:14-25) states that (15) he ends up doing that which he hates. In (16,17), Paul realizes that if he agrees that the law is good, then it is no more him that was responsible, but sin that was in him. In looking for an answer he says (24) "Who shall deliver me?" (25) "I thank God through Jesus Christ"

(Romans 8:1). "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus." And in (Romans 8:4) it says that "The righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us (Not by us), who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."

Fourth - We will be saved from this corrupt world. In (Romans 8:18-23), Paul states (18) "For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. (21) Because the creature (Creation) itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. (22) For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now." John states in (1 John 3:2) "Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is."

9 Who is wise? Let him understand these things. Who is prudent? Let him know them. For the ways of the Lord are right; The righteous walk in them, But transgressors stumble in them. Hosea 14:9

These are truly instructions for life.

John says it this way -

7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.

10 In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother. 1 John 3:7,10

I have a little trouble understanding this, but I do have a reply:

A word of hope: Joyce Meyer once said that it is hard at first to obey the Holy Spirit, but after awhile it gets easier and easier... :)

The concept of salvation daily is based on the Hebrew word "continual" which also means daily...

1Co 15:31 I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.

What does Paul mean when he says he must die daily ? The power of self must die daily, and experience the power of Jesus daily....

Ex 25:30 And thou shalt set upon the table shewbread before me alway.

The bread of Jesus is before us every day to eat daily

Ex 30:8 And when Aaron lighteth the lamps at even, he shall burn incense upon it, a perpetual incense before the LORD throughout your generations.

The altar of incense is a symbol of our prayers ascending to heaven daily, and thus we must be talking to Jesus from our mouths daily.

The verses you show

Ro 10:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Is how to get started in Jesus....

But the process is a continual one, of planting SEEDS of Jesus,
His character,
developing the garden of our soul
and developing a character of fruit like Jesus has

The Christian is likened to a garden, the garden must be tended to daily
The Christian is likened to a tree, the tree must do daily

Hope this helps

When I read this verse in context with what Paul is talking about this is what I understand. Hint: death and the resurrection of the dead doctrine. I see that he is talking about being in danger of physical death on a continual bases, even in Ephesus.
He is saying what good would it do me to risk my life everyday if there is no resurrection of the dead. We might as well enjoy life today if there is no resurrection of the dead. :twocents

Well there ya go, bingo!!!

SAVED DAILY.

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
(1Co 10:13)

And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
(2Ti 4:18)

And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
(2Th 3:2-3)

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
(Luk 10:19)

Saved.............Sozo
to save, that is, deliver or protect (literally or figuratively): - heal, preserve, save (self), do well, be (make) whole.

Eternal life is accepting Jesus, that happens one time.

If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
(Heb 6:6)

Saved and Salvation both mean healing and protection, neither mean eternal life.

Blessings.

Deborah13, your right Paul is speaking of physical death and dangers, but he is also speaking of dying to self, when facing physical dangers of death, we can struggle in our own human power, or seek Jesus, Paul seeks Jesus, every day, He dies daily....a death to legalism, and seeks life in Jesus...

Brother Mike says it well. we are saved daily too....

I hope some don't think once we are saved by Jesus, we no longer need to read HIs Bible words, pray to Him any more? Soil that is no longer used goes hard (pride) , plants which yield fruit, stop making more fruit and die leaving a bar unproductive garden....unless your a tree, you can keep on making fruit, but that means you have to be always growing, drinking in water daily (seeking the Holy Spirit) and seeking sunlight daily (finding Jesus daily) in order to make that fruit....

The Bible speaks of growing in Jesus and developing character...to do this one must grow in Jesus...and to be growing...you have to be saved daily....our growing is only possible in our salvation power that comes from Jesus....daily we eat His words, daily we talk to Him in pray, and daily we strive to make ourselves characters in His likeness....

Hope this helps clarify

No it does not help clarify. Please show me where in this scripture it says anything about being saved daily? Or for that matter dying to self? 1 Corinthians 15:31
I am not saying we are not saved daily or that we shouldn't die to self daily. But that scripture does not say that in anyway that I can see.
I believe, that scripture is very important just the way it stands without adding any other thoughts to it, whether they be true or false statements. It is Paul saying why would I risked my physical life IF there is no resurrection of the dead. This is a very important foundational doctrine that was being challenged by many in Paul's time and is challenged today. This scripture is support for the doctrine of the resurrection of the dead.
Ask yourself that question, would you risk your life to spread the gospel message, if there was no resurrection of the dead?

There are five requirements to Salvation

1. Confession - Acts 2:21; Romans 10:9, 10

2. Repentance - Mark 1:14, 15

3. Faith - John 3:14-18

4. Regeneration - John 3:3-8

5. Holy Scripture - 2 Timothy 3:15

Those who endure until the end are those who will be saved. We are not saved daily, but do crucify this flesh daily to walk in that righteousness of God that is found in us and then upon Christ return are we saved when we have endured all things of this life here on earth.

Mat 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Mat 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Your message is then to be transformed by the renewing of your mind,?

Wording can make misunderstandings and using a tablet makes things hard to type.

Peter said work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, once again the word salvation means to be protected heal and kept in safety

Lots of scriptures about finding the will of God and doing it being called according to his purpose.

Jesus said his yoke is light. Far better than what the devil or world has for us. Being saved daily is a hard to accept terminology, considering the rest of the scripture.

Be blessed

Mike, where in 1 Corinthians 15:31, does it say anything about being saved daily or dying to self or the flesh? I just don't see it. I see it in other scriptures but not this one. And this is the only one I addressed.
See this post How are we saved daily?

Your right of course Deborah, there is no Hebrew word for "self" but there are plenty of Hebrew words based of the concept of self and dying to self...
http://spiritualsprings.org/ss-736.htm This link of my own website links about a dozen Hebrew words related to self....

As for the concept of being saved daily...that is a more difficult matter

Ps 1:1 ¶ Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly,
nor standeth in the way of sinners,
nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD;
and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

Notice the righteous love the LORD and delight in the attitudes of love in the torah teachings
But how is this attitude of the righteous compared to ?

3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,
that bringeth forth his fruit in his season;
his leaf also shall not wither;
and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

He is compared to a tree, a tree that grows...makes fruit...leaf does not fail...

4 ¶ The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous:
but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

The ungodly are chaff, chaff is a plant that dries up, no growth, no fruit, dead.

So we receive power for living in Jesus as a tree does, daily...

This is also called in Scripture "quickening"

Joh 3:4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

In this passage the second birth experience is of the Holy Spirit, is this just a literal once off birth, or is it a daily second birth, that is your question...after all Nicodemus thought is was a once off birth similar to human first birth...

Ps 51:7 ¶ Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

Here we see the second birth experience , the Holy Spirit is mentioned, the context is about David's birth and his first birth in sinning...notice the clue to the second birth of the Holy Spirit is a CREATIVE birth....CREATE in me a clean heart...renew a right spirit within me...

A right spirit is the concept of a right character...does a character change happen immediately upon salvation ? No, it happens slowly one fault at a time is removed and replaced by the fruits of Jesus...it is a life time thing of growing into His grace...how by CREATION, actually recreation....

Joh 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

This quickening experience is a daily change....the second birth begins on our salvation start date just as human conception begins on the day one with a human zygote, but the rest of the time the first human birth grows and changes, so the second character growth grows and changes too.

Another poetry simile is the eating of Jesus body and drinking His blood....

Joh 6:57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.
58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
59 These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.
60 ¶ Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?

As the children ate manna every day, they were changing every day in Jesus salvation....he makes this parallel of the literal as spiritual....even the water they drank came from Jesus the Cela Rock...

Perhaps this helps more with your query, and it is a good question

Mike, where in 1 Corinthians 15:31, does it say anything about being saved daily or dying to self or the flesh? I just don't see it. I see it in other scriptures but not this one. And this is the only one I addressed.
See this post How are we saved daily?

Thanks

I suppose in a protection sense, God has helped us avoid disasters we don't even know about, but nothing in 1 Cor 15:32 about that or this dying daily topic.

The Law which was meant to give life, gave death to our bodies (Flesh instead) We don't want to go out that way (die) (Many Verses on this)

Rom 7:13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.

This is bad, we don't want to die this way. Poster must mean something else.

For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
(Rom 8:6)

Rom 6:8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
(Rom 8:10)

These two Verses:
Col 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
(Col 2:20)

Both denote people who have been born again (Dead in Christ) and baptized. Though dead in Christ, one can still live in the world under Ordinances. It's a one time baptism, one time dead in Christ. Not a daily thing.

The poster can't mean stay born again by dying daily then as that would contradict scriptures. Nothing contradicts.

So then.

The poster must mean that by being renewed by the Word daily we grow stronger. We loose our life (What we want and plan) for that of the Lords.

Eph 5:18
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
(Rom 8:4)

That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
(Eph 5:26)

Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
(Jas 1:21)

My guess is that staying in the Word, staying filled with the Spirit (Stay anointed by avoiding strife and sin) Keeps us more in touch with the Lord. This is something we do. It says nothing about dying anywhere, but this might be what the Poster is talking about.

Blessings.

Nope, I never said anything about a Hebrew word for self, you are making this way too difficult.
I thought I was really clear in that last post but maybe not.

I do appreciate your effort and other scriptures that may support your OP.

I suppose in a protection sense, God has helped us avoid disasters we don't even know about, but nothing in 1 Cor 15:32 about that or this dying daily topic.

This Is what I was asking about. Thank you.
I have heard 1 Corinth. 15:31 quoted over the years "we need to die daily like Paul", so when I saw it here I thought I should ask, maybe I was just not seeing what they were seeing in that verse.

I really appreciate all the other scriptures, too. Thanks

I am really glad Brother Mike helped us both, he has a way with God's words...
May God bless us all...

Wow this is a good thread. I hadn't realized that before, that salvation means protected or rescued (daily). It is so easy to misunderstand scripture at times when we take words to mean something that we thought we (obviously) knew. I did do a quick word study on it and I am in agreement with BrotherMike on this. Awesome! This changes perspective ever so slightly and builds me up. Thanks brothrs and sisters. :)

As a small aside...what makes you think that, that prayers are only symbolic of incense rising to heaven rthom7? I can easily see the analogy, but have suspected before that it may be a reality of the spiritual realm that we just don't realize.

I did do a quick word study on it and I am in agreement with BrotherMike on this. Awesome! This changes perspective ever so slightly and builds me up. Thanks brothers and sisters. :)

As a small aside...what makes you think that, that prayers are only symbolic of incense rising to heaven rthom7? I can easily see the analogy, but have suspected before that it may be a reality of the spiritual realm that we just don't realize.
