How do you live the Christian life?

After many years of going to “church†my life was dramatically changed right after 9/11/2001 when I had a very real experience with Jesus. The experience seemed to come about as at that time I was at the end of my rope in many ways and cried out to Him that "the Christian life is not working." He seemed to convey back to me yes it is not working because you are trying to live the "life" in the energy of your own flesh. I believe I was converted at that time and walked an amazing life for three or four years. Now I'm back to square one. The Christian life is not working again. I attempted to live Galatians 2:20, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.†I truly walked a wonderful life of faith. But now there seems to be no faith, no power, no love, no joy, and no purpose.

Anyone want to share how you live the Christian life?

Renew you faith allow Jesus to live in you and through you once more then love, joy, and peace will be the natural outcome. We must do as scripture has said and die to ourselves that Christ might live.

Jesus is hotly persuing, He love you and wants you to have all you have ever dreamed of. Remember who you are, and do not let satan steal your identity.

Let the redeemed of the Lord say so.

An axiom of life is, "You can't play the game if you don't know the rules." The "Christian Life" rules can be divided into three parts: preparatiom, process, and purpose. (Sorry, I have an incurable case of Baptistitis)
Jesus warned that the ill-prepared convert would be unfruitful: preparation was 1. understanding (vs seed by the wayside), 2. a "root" (of tutoring by the law) (vs seed on the rock), and 3. separation (vs seed in the weeds.)
The process is commitment to the gospel, Matt 28:18-20. There are seven steps. Read, meditate till they come to you. Few have. The purpose is dominion, sitting at the Father's right hand and ruling with Jesus.
You are right to expect your light to grow continually brighter. It will if you do what the scriptures have stated is wise. More if you like.

What is the measuring stick?

Is the Christian life measured by happiness? By sadness? What? Are we expecting a high-five from God when we please him? Are we looking for a pat on the back when we've prayed? What power do you want?

Sometimes our faith can falter, things happen in life that leave us a little disolushioned, but I only have to look at the lives of some of the prophets and people in the Bible to see they never had it easy, and many spent long times in sadness. Imagine we lived the life of Job? How would our faith test against that lifestyle?

STAY TRUE to what you've always believed in. Stand firm throughout EVERY trial and bewilderment life throws at you. Continue to pray, look beyond yourself and look to God. Look to please others, take the spotlight from yourself and do all you can for other people. It is not to us that glory belongs, but to God, and a time will come when we will share that glory because of his grace.

I UNDERSTAND how you feel, I have been there myself, feeling whether it's all worth it or not, but NEVER give up, continue til the very end, God will never leave you. Your relationship with the Father should never be confused with what we desire in the flesh. Gods will be done.

Take care and God bless. Stay strong, be bold and continue to seek God.

God is testing your love of the truth. We love being filled with His presence. But God will lead us into the desert at times to test our faith and faithfulness. Continue to glorify God in all you do. Let the roots of faith grow deeper. Bear fruit in a barren land. Be convinced of the love of God...even when you don't "feel" it. Walking in the Spirit is a cakewalk. Walking in hope and waiting is difficult. God wants Christian character. God is winking at you. Wink back!!

The way that's been most successful for me to actually "live out" the Christian life is by knowing my role within the Covenant relationship.

For me that essentially means stop "trying to be good" and let the Holy Spirit work in me, because that's why God seals it within us. The Holy Spirit is the same thing on earth that enabled Jesus to live the life he did, and that same Spirit is now in us. How cool is that?!

So one of my daily prayers is that the Holy Spirit reveals to me what I need to work on in my spiritual life, then I pray that the Spirit helps me in that aspect of it.

Sure enough, slowly but surely, I see that changes being made, I'm becoming less selfish, more loving, more patient, friendlier, etc.

Every Christians has seasons in their life, some are times of immense growth and some are times that seem stagnant, but God has promised us that Jesus will complete the good work he has started in us, and he will never leave us nor forsake us. I don't rely on "feelings" to know that God is still there and still working, but I rely on my faith in the work of Jesus on the cross and the promises he's given me in the Bible.

:)
