Growth How do you Overcome Satan?

"And he who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil." 1 John 3:8

Satan is the enemy of God, man and all righteousness. Satan accuses God to man as he did in the case of Eve, and accuses man to God as he did in the case of Job. He is a fallen angel. Jesus said, "I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven." (Luke 10:18)

Satan tempts humanity in many ways. Every temptation to do evil, to serve the flesh, and to love the world comes from Satan. We have many temptations and distractions. The world today is full of distractions. We have tv, the internet, smart phones, sports, politics, and many other things to distract us from Jesus.

Satan also appears as an angel of light, using scriptures wrongly to mislead people. Satan does not object to people having a false righteousness as long as they are serving him. Jesus described the religious leaders of his time as being sons of Satan.

In our own strength we are no match for Satan. God has made every provision for us to resist the devil's temptations through Christ and His Word. We need to study the Bible, for Satan cannot withstand the Word of God. We need to watch and pray, and we trust in Christ's atoning blood and His intercession for us. He is able to the uttermost. (Hebrews 7:25)

But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57 NIV

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew 6:33 NKJV

James 3:15 says a Christian has three enemies - the world, the flesh, and demonic forces.

1. WORLD = Christians that are not 100% dependent on Lord Jesus Christ and the Cross in all things have left the kingdom of God and entered into the world. Which means you are a enemy of God - James 4:4 NIV.

2. FLESH = A Christian that trust in their self-effort (flesh) is cursed! Fallen from Grace.

Thus says the Lord:
“Cursed is the man who trusts in man
And makes flesh his strength,
Whose heart departs from the Lord.
6 For he shall be like a shrub in the desert,
And shall not see when good comes,
But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness,
In a salt land which is not inhabited. Jeremiah 17:5 NKJV

3. Demonic = The serpent can't strike if the hedge is up - Ecclesiastes 10:8 NKJV. Whoever enters into the world and leaves the kingdom of God has breached their own protection to allow the enemy to enter..For if we sin deliberately.

4. Repent and repair the breach!

1 Peter 3:10-12 NKJV
For “He who would love life
And see good days,
Let him refrain his tongue from evil,
And his lips from speaking deceit.
11 Let him turn away from evil and do good;
Let him seek peace and pursue it.
12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
And His ears are open to their prayers;
But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”[b]

Alone we are no match for Satan as he will devour us. It is only through the grace of God that we submit ourselves to Him that now we have Gods power and authority to resist Satan and he will flee from you. It's that same power and authority Christ gave the twelve that we also partake of this same power and authority as only God can give.

James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Luke 9:1 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.
