How does one 'destroy the temple' in 1 Corinthians 3:17 ?

Mark 13:
14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:
15 And let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house, neither enter therein, to take any thing out of his house:
16 And let him that is in the field not turn back again for to take up his garment.
17 But woe to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
18 And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter.
19 For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.
20 And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.

The temple is the Temple in Jerusalem: Judea.

The AOD is an image set up by the false christ, in the holy place.

The general understanding has changed my "relationship" with God in Christ. IF I understand scripture presentations and internal reality as described therein, I recognize that I have an intruder in my temple for example, that Paul in the identical way described as "no longer I." That intruder is the most vile sinner that has ever existed. I know when God in Christ looks at me He does not SEE just me. I also know for no uncertain fact that God can and does deal with that adverse agent, ADVERSELY.

God in Christ is NOT a namby pamby JOKE when it comes to engagements. His Precepts are REAL, His Dealings are REAL, His Jealousy is REAL. God will have His Mercy and will use that adversity and adverse agents to prove beyond any doubt, our need of same. It is not always Kumbaya and Amazing Grace how sweet thou art.

An honest witness to the Gospel has two accounts to give. Not just the "oh love me Lord" side.
God's love has two approaches.
Rod and staff. Church discipline looks more toward restoration.

Sin no longer has dominion, but there are still issues to deal with.

One temporal one eternal.

Jesus is of the tribe of Judah. We have the mind of Christ. Where then is Judea? It is at our mountain top, in our mind and heart.

There will be no one standing on rooftops in Judea, fleeing.

In scriptural spiritual terms, our body is our house.

Is that a yes, to my question which ask's: Are you implying that God destroys all Christians?

Please answer directly.

Are you implying that God destroys all Christians? Yes or No?

JLB

Absolutely, exactly as described in 1 Cor. 15!

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

Corruptible and mortal will no longer exist. Do the math. Those things are gone, DESTROYED.

This is not God destroying the Christian, but transforming the Christian at the resurrection of the dead in Christ.

You have mistakenly taken the concept of God destroying the person who defiles the collective body of Christ, with the transformation of those who are His.

The destroying of those who defile, references individual people who are guilty of defiling the Holy Temple of God, which clearly means the person himself; spirit, soul and body, as opposed to the transformation of the body of a person.

15 If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.
16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 17 If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are. 1 Corinthians 3:15-17

God will destroy him, is a reference to the person that will be destroyed.

A person is spirit, soul and body.

him = a person, who is guilty of defiling.

In scriptural spiritual terms, our body is our house.

13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. 15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. 18 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. 19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.
Matthew 24:13-22

But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath.

So the fleeing of Judea to the mountains, and not going back for anything, and the struggle this will cause pregnant women is really just "all in our mind"... and isn't really going to literally happen.

Why would Jesus tell us to watch for these things, if they take place in our heart and mind... especially the part about -

“But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her. 22 For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. 23 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people. Luke 21:20-23

Are the armies that surround Jerusalem, also just in out mind and heart also?

Never said it.
All believers are currently bound in mortal corruption. I've also never said that any believer(s) defiles the collective body of Christ either.
The destroying of those who defile, references individual people who are guilty of defiling the Holy Temple of God, which clearly means the person himself; spirit, soul and body, as opposed to the transformation of the body of a person.

See previous. It is obvious to me that sin is what destroys the bodies of every believer in death. Sin is of the devil. Most have no accounting for this party as the defiler of the temple body of believers. Scriptures do show that to be the case and the math couldn't be any clearer.

Pregnancy in the scriptures is not always and only about physically birthing a new born, donchaknow?

Isaiah 26:17
Like
as a woman with child, that draweth near the time of her delivery, is in pain, and crieth out in her pangs; so have we been in thy sight, O Lord.
Why would Jesus tell us to watch for these things, if they take place in our heart and mind... especially the part about -

There is a final spiritual birth that is sought by all believers.

If some have no grasp of the subject matter they'll only see physical mountains, physical rooftops, physical mountains and physical fleeings. I see none of those things in that way. Scriptures DO present other sights to be had.

Jeremiah 30:6
Ask ye now, and see whether a man doth travail with child?
wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned into paleness?

1 Thessalonians 5:3
For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

The language of God is similitude.

Again you have taken a condition that is unique to those who defile the temple, and misapplied it to mean all Christians, while mixing this meaning of destroying to that of the physiacl transforming of the human body at the resurrection.

The destroying by God to those who defile is certainly not a reference to the resurrection of the dead in Christ for those who have been faithful, and have been counted worthy to attain the Resurrection.

In addition, you have tried "spiritualizing" the words of Jesus in Matthew 24, concerning the signs He told us to look for, claiming these are "symbolic" of the Judea and Jerusalem with the heart and mind.

How does a person look for signs that are metaphorical?

How does one watch for "allegorical" armies that surround Jerusalem, in order to flee to the mountain

How does "metaphorical" signs, in the sun and moon and stars, cause the seas to roar and cause men to have a heart attack?

20 “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. 21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her. 22 For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. 23 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people. 24 And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. 25 “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; 26 men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”

I think we can be quite assured that "our" current planting conditions as noted in 1 Cor. 15 are facts and that these will pass away-be, be put off or destroyed when that 'change' of Phil 3:21 arrives. Phil. 3:21 describes this as our vile body. It is vile because sin dwells in it and evil is therein present.
How does a person look for signs that are metaphorical?

If believers have spent an inordinate amount of time banging their head against the "literal" wall they maybe have more work to do on their own. If believers "listen" and "see" Gods Word, then they will be led to see. I don't think any literalist is bound to see much of anything in the spiritual senses.

Depends on how you see it. We don't see or understand the same language. Really not even in the same ballpark.

1 Corinthians 2:13
Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
How does "metaphorical" signs, in the sun and moon and stars, cause the seas to roar and cause men to have a heart attack?

Depends on what men we are discussing.

We are probably in different worlds of understandings for which there is no remedy (for the literalist only.)

Luke 17:20
And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:

Those who are looking for a 200 million man army around Jerusalem won't actually see a thing, will waste their time waiting and WILL be taken by complete surprise.

Nope. the body of those who are resurrected will be changed.

No head banging required, just watching.

The signs are just that, a sign.

A sign points to something... something that is seen.

agree 1000 percent.

Depends on what men we are discussing.

We are discussing the bible, and the words of Jesus.

Why not just answer my question, instead of playing word games with vague, obscure answers.

So now you change the scripture with another scripture and another context which, has nothing to do with these signs which Jesus told us to look for -

In fact the consequences for not watching for these signs, and His coming, are also clear -

the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matthew 24:50
