how does the spirit connect with the body after death and is the body dead? (ressurection) ?

Spirit leaves the body at time of physical death.

Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Here dust + breath/spirit from God = a living soul. When the flesh dies physically it returns back to the dust of the ground and our spirit is preserved with God for final judgment.

Ecc 12:7 then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

We return to the dust of the ground when this physical body dies and our breath/spirit returns to God as we wait for Gods final judgment when Christ returns.

The spirit of a person is connected to the body via a silver cord. At death that silver cord is severed:

6Remember Him before the silver cord is snapped and the golden bowl is crushed,
before the pitcher is shattered at the spring and the wheel is broken at the well,

7before the dust returns to the ground from which it came and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

Ecclesiastes 12:6-7

I have no idea what the golden bowl that is crushed is, don't ask.

I had to read vs 6 over and over again and then it dawned on me, hopefully by the Holy Spirit and the full context of Ecc 12:1-7 what the silver cord and the golden bowl was. There are many interpretations, but this is my understanding.

Remember your creator in your youth

Go back to Ecc 12:1 Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them

Days of our youth when we first trusted in Christ as we knew no evil at first having no pleasure in evil until it was revealed to us about the lust of the flesh. The silver cord is our life line in Christ while we are yet living in this fleshly body, Colossians 3:1-4, that will return to the dust of the ground (man goes to his long home/dust of the ground) from whence he came. The silver cord is the breath God breathed in us making us a living soul.

Ecc 12:6 Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern.
Ecc 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

Never loose that of Christ (silver cord) in your life no matter what tries to come against you as fearing what man can do to you, Matthew 10:28, and never quench the Holy Spirit (golden bowl Zech 4) putting out that lamp unto your feet allowing the oil to run out.
