Hi Not Now, Parents can be over barring (not a good thing for mental development) A child needs to have their own space to explore and learn. But within the boundary that their parents set while instilling in them good character. The best teaching is if the child has a role model (father and mother). Children grow up mimicking there parents more often then not. But without the teaching of Scripture in their life and to know the savior, they can grow up bitter. In drug abuse, sometimes you have to let them hit bottom as long as you are there to catch them. Each case is different, what works for one will not always work for the other. Always pray. (Psalms 103)I can't say yet, because I'm not a parent yet. (Hopefully someday, hopefully soon.). But I think it really depends on the sitution. Like Mike said regarding drugs, there are some things that are really dangerous to a person, and letting them figure it out on their own, might not be right. But for so many other things, I hope I don't become too over protective.
