How much truth do we know?

In search for truth we seek knowledge

I saw the knowledge of God at the top of a mountain and I strive to reach it hoping it answers everything
But when I finally reached the peak and see knowledge I find that there is a higher peak behind it which is understanding

So off I go climbing the mountain of understanding for this knowledge
As I develop a better understanding of this knowledge I receive further revelation, more questions, newfound knowledge

So now there are new mountains of knowledge to understand which in turn produces more knowledge to understand
It’s an infinite cycle of knowledge and understanding not only in religion but science and many other things

So how much truth do u think we know? Not truth of this world but the truth of what is beyond
Do u think the bible gives us over 75% of the truth?

Does it only give us what we need to know, maybe only 10% of the truth?
How certain can one be on the amount of truth that has been revealed to us?

Everything is so complex even just getting scripture in it's correct context.

Knowledge and understanding.

Knowledge can be that you know Jesus said do not judge or you too will be judged back the same measure. That is knowledge.

Understanding is knowing the context as he was talking about judging is only in hypocrisy, as the entire chapter is about. The context is about judging in hypocrisy, not judging others in general.

So don't judge others and say "why do you speed on the road your just a fool" when you do the same thing, that's just an example of what hypocrisy is, im not speaking about you.

That's all it is.

Then you will get "Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”

As it's not a contradiction. The knowledge is knowing those verses, the understanding is do not judge others in hypocrisy, and if you do judge otherwise, then judge correctly. If your not in hypocrisy you can judge others in a righteous judgement. Its how we all learn.

Knowledge and understanding. Knowledge is one thing, understanding and truth is another.

If you are not in hypocrisy you can judge and correct me and if I'm not in hypocrisy I can judge and correct you. As long as people are careful they are not doing the same thing and it's a correct statement they are making.

Many people have knowledge of the bible but not much truth and understanding of it, and I also have much to learn. That's why we have so many denominations and false teachings.

Some people could possibly even disagree with what I have said.

Jesus and Paul were major judges, it would be a contradiction if people cannot judge out of hypocrisy, that would make Jesus and Paul a liar. Jesus going around calling people fools and hypocrites, if he was not a hypocrite and you cannot judge at all he's a liar, calling people fools and hypocrites is judging.

All fall short but without calling each other out people cannot be corrected.

Ask someone 100 general knowledge bible questions and they could get 100 out of 100, very biblically knowledgeable, 100% correct, but do they understand.

Where did Jonah spend 3 days and 3 nights. Oh in the belly of a whale. Correct, that's biblical knowledge. I'm a scholar.

Really... Well... I didn't know that. Im going to have to read the whole chapter closely now to gain a greater understanding. Cheers...

Ye I used to think knowledge was the pinnacle of truth before realizing it is nothing without understanding.

If knowledge is power what then can we call understanding???

In Matthew 7 Jesus starts and says do not judge and goes on to say about taking the plank out your own eye and says "you hypocrite".

That was obviously why he said what he said, he was saying your judging in hypocrisy. He said that word alot in general because judging in hypocrisy was running rampant.

Many people stop at the verse or sentence "do not judge" and that is there conclusion, where Jesus gave the context and said in the entire verse do not judge or you will be judged you hypocrite.

A hypocrite is only someone who currently does the same thing while judging others for that same thing.

And all the many different Bible translations all use that same word in the verse, except one.

I'm tired and cannot get into detail topic, but according to this if people just want to pick verses out the bible and make it what they want like I can show an example then no one needs to believe in God or Jesus at all, who cares, and who cares about God and sin. Let's party and worship some idols. God does not judge. So no matter what anyone does God does not judge.

God does not judge so he won't judge anyone, and Jesus said he does not judge and has been given all judgement by God. Everyone's a winner.

Scripture says "Not even the Father judges anyone, but He has given all judgment to the Son.

Jesus says "You judge according to the flesh; I am not judging anyone."

"For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."

I'm a scholar look at my knowledge of the bible. Lol.

Knowledge, but is it understanding and the truth?

I mean dang, the scriptures do not even have verses and chapters, or full stops and commas and whatever. They did not even use them in the stone age.

"Hear this, you foolish and senseless people, who have eyes but do not see, who have ears but do not hear:"

Anyone can have a field day with the bible with knowledge yet can have no truth and understanding of it like I just picked out verses and made a doctrine.

I'm sure everyone here knows I was just giving an example and explaining something.

True. Im also reminded of when the Pharisees brought a woman that had committed adultery to Jesus and told him we are meant to stone her by law. And he said something like ye ok fine cast a stone if you truly believe u haven't sinned.

There is a chapter were Jesus uses the word "hypocrite" over and over talking to the Pharisees. I think its in John maybe

I know what your saying about passages being taken out of context

Understanding is the power of the knowledge given us by God's Holy Spirit that reveals all truth in the full context of the scriptures when we pray first and ask for understanding. We could never exhaust the teachings the Bible contains, but we need to know for a surety that we understand that of what we are reading.

This is where the gathering of the whole body of Christ comes in through the Holy Spirit working through others as there are always some that have more Spiritual knowledge and understanding then we do and at times we need to be corrected in what we might believe as correction needs to be made when we do err as we gather all together to discuss the scriptures. We need to learn how to Spiritual discern that of what is being taught to us as all things have to line up with what God has already spoken and had written by His prophets and Apostles.

We need to be approachable, teachable and humbled enough to receive truth, especially when we thought we were right, but pointed out we were wrong in what we believed to be truth. I thank God for the many times His Holy Spirit has worked through others to show me where I was wrong and the kindness they showed me in what needed corrected.

I use to read a chapter a day and get the just out of it, but the just was not full knowledge. When the Holy Spirit taught me to read scripture like the letters that were written by the Prophets and Apostles it brought learning so much easier to me as I left out all the commas, periods, chapters and verse numbering and started reading word by word. If I got stuck on a word or sentence I didn't understand the Holy Spirit takes me to other scriptures that bring that word or sentence to light.

We will never exhaust the teachings in the Bible, but that which we do read and study we also need to fully understand.

But we've gone off topic a bit here.
I was actually asking how much truth do we really know?

When we die will things be as we imagine?
Will it be totally different to what we imagine?
Will there be a lot more than the bible tells us?

I think we can only know in part of certain things as we see images in our mind while here on earth, but when we are with Christ on that glorious day then all things will be revealed and we will be amazed.

One can only hope that there is so much more. Think of it like this. When Jesus walked the earth there were no cars or planes. Yet today there are both of these things. In the days of the prophets they made prophesy that pointed to Jesus even to very descriptive of how Jesus would suffer and die. Yet as far as I'm aware back then there was no crusification, that was a Roman invention of torture and execution.

In the same way all I can do is hope for the things to look forward to in Heaven, that I have no concept of now. Things you can hope for that might or might not be there are one thing, like whether or not our pets and other animals that died will share the heaven we go to with us. But the things we have no concept of, the things we have no knowledge about, we can just hope on and trust in what God has in store. Like how someone in the 1600s would have no concept of a plane to expect it and look forward to a future of easier traveling, we have to trust God and look foreward for the things we don't know to expect.
