There are so many guidelines in the bible on this.
Both have to follow God's teachings. I agree with Who Me They have to be themselves in Christ.
In marriage the man is the leader, the founder a and protector. The woman should respect this and follow the man's guidance, as long as it doesn't go against God.
They should both love and respect each other
The woman is the nourishing one.
Sometimes circumstances can put one of them onto the two roles. In the event of one dying the one left has to be both father and mother, unless they marry again.

I agree, they should be led by the Spirit of God. It means honesty, truth, love, openness, genuine concern for others, satisfied with their role in life and not trying to act a different role. Being satisfied with how God created them, and not trying to change themselves into something unnatural. This is what I mean by "be themselves." Recognizing their identity in Christ, it means being righteous as Christ defined it, and not being carelessly sinful. Loving God and His commands, and considering the needs of others.
