John wrote to the elect and told them how to know a deceiver....
2 John 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
1:10-11 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
1:11 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.
A great evil would be to "forbiddeth them that would," (would seek Christ) and instead tell them only the elect are part of God's Kingdom....that there is no room for others and in doing so he "casteth them out of the church." Another casting them out would be in disagreeing with someone on a subject and then he/she suggests that the one with the opposing view be cast out of a church, group or forum.
Know your enemy. Love him by telling him the truth and then....receive him not nor bid him God speed! Then he is in the hands of God.

- The outstanding message of God's Word is....His salvation. If one teaches that His salvation isn't available to those that believe and repent....he abideth not in the doctrine of Christ and...he hath not God!

- Are these deceivers obvious with their deception? No...or it wouldn't be something that could deceive another. Instead they disguise themselves as Christians.....wolves, (or serpents, locusts and scorpions), in sheep's clothing...the clothing of God's children, calling themselves the elect.
[list:3u9cbnmn]3 John 1:9-10 I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not. Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.
