John wrote to the elect and told them how to know a deceiver....

2 John 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

  • The outstanding message of God's Word is....His salvation. If one teaches that His salvation isn't available to those that believe and repent....he abideth not in the doctrine of Christ and...he hath not God!

1:10-11 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

  • Are these deceivers obvious with their deception? No...or it wouldn't be something that could deceive another. Instead they disguise themselves as Christians.....wolves, (or serpents, locusts and scorpions), in sheep's clothing...the clothing of God's children, calling themselves the elect.

[list:3u9cbnmn]3 John 1:9-10 I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not. Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.
[/list:u:3u9cbnmn]

1:11 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.

A great evil would be to "forbiddeth them that would," (would seek Christ) and instead tell them only the elect are part of God's Kingdom....that there is no room for others and in doing so he "casteth them out of the church." Another casting them out would be in disagreeing with someone on a subject and then he/she suggests that the one with the opposing view be cast out of a church, group or forum. :shame

Know your enemy. Love him by telling him the truth and then....receive him not nor bid him God speed! Then he is in the hands of God.

Ephesians 4 - KJV

4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

4:2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

4:3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

I have been deceived by many over the six months of my conversion and my heart tends to point me back to the above verse when I come across oppression.

I just read your blog. You have really been trekking through some churches. I'm glad you found the one for you. Even though you're in the midst of much older folks it doesn't have to stay that way. Add more of your friends but...don't overlook the old folks cause I'm one! :-)

I appreciate your above post. The unity of the Spirit is difficult at times and you're right....referring to His Word does help, at least with understanding the oppressor.

I actually prefer the older fellowship at this God loving Church a million times more than any of the other Churches I have attended and I have led three others there who had given up also..Praise the Lord!

They are a lovely bunch and I only wish they could come evangelising with us in the city! Saying that though, there are four of us of a younger age and just having us there lifts and encourages them so it works both ways!

I had an idea with my Pastor the other day. Imagine what a reformation could do within the whole body these days... especially by bringing unity and casting out the deceivers. Maybe we should all be praying for another Martin Luther to stand up against the false doctrines and the cults that false-prophets have left behind.. :praying

We are that person/persons. We are His witnesses allowing His Spirit to speak through us. As members of the many-membered body of Christ we are all given different jobs. I love mine.
