“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” Matthew 7:24-27
There are two distinct doctrines described in scripture.
The doctrine of Christ which is referred to as the truth.
The doctrine of demons which is referred to as the lie.
“Doing” which is obeying what Jesus said, leads to building our lives on an unshakeable foundation that will stand in these last days.
I will share a passage that calls out both, then list some individually.
The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12
The key to understanding the difference is the lie promotes unrighteousness, while the truth promotes righteousness.
The lie come from the devil, the father of lies, and what he told to Eve that weakened her to sin, to obey his doctrine and disobey the Lord’s.
Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. Genesis 3:5
Go ahead Eve, disobey the Lord, you won’t die.
Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons. 1 Timothy 4:1
Notice that the goal of the doctrine of demons seems to be getting the Christian to depart from the faith. I know of two ways this may occur; legalism and lawlessness.
More on that later.
Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son.
2 John 9
In my thread titled, Do you love the truth, I defined the truth, and illustrated the fullness (three-fold fullness) of the truth.

Jesus Christ is the truth.
Every word that proceeds out of His mouth is the truth.
The fullness of the truth is expressed in:
His Gospel
His Doctrine
His Commandments
So we see there is the doctrine of Christ, the truth, and the doctrine of demons, the lie.
Hopefully we can cultivate a love for the truth in this study.
God bless you.
