Hypnosis is currently a "science" being studied. There are hypnotherapist who can help people with weight loss, smoking addiction and such things; with varied success.
I have read on the gotquestions website that Christian's should avoid hypnosis; allowing another to "control the mind" is inappropriate in Christian belief's. But the mind is so much more than these scientist and hypnotist understand; and they don't actually "control anything", that "instrument" belongs to God.
I'm going to copy and paste a document I wrote a couple years ago; and would ask for any scientific of faith based input my fellow forum members can provide?
In the early summer of 1970, my great-grandmother was my primary babysitter. She was also the primary healer (natural medicine) of that little community in the hills of Western Kentucky. One day a man in the community got seriously hurt when an ax head came off as he was working; two women and another man rushed him to my great-grandmother's house. The man was screaming in a really awful way; and fighting the good people who were just trying to help him.
My great-grandmother started to chant; and in a matter of moments the man stopped screaming and laid still. Great-grandma was able to clean and stitch the wound on his calf without any further fuss. To me, what I saw was just magical; to be able to help someone so quickly after they had been so seriously injured.
When I asked great-grandma about what she had done; all she would say is that what she had done should only be used to calm and to heal. Most of my other teachers, and other adults; wouldn’t even acknowledge my questions about what I had seen. Then finally two of my special teachers did give me answers I could accept.
The first was an old woman who primarily taught music and instruments. What she said was this; “when you touch the inner mind of another (hypnosis); you are actually speaking directly to an Angel who has lived many, many lives. She said you can’t ask the Angel to identify themselves; and you can’t discuss things that would be considered Heavenly or Divine; because Father would not allow us to speak so directly with each other here on the earth, and the brains of both would simply melt if we tried. She did say there were 2 things every Angel would respond to, service of need and purpose.”.
The second was an old man who kept all the families histories. The story he told went back to the 3rd Century when Roman soldiers were escorting Roman Catholic priest across the British Isles; forcing everyone to bend knee and accept their (Roman) version of our Holy Bible and their version of our Christianity. If a man didn’t drop to his knees fast enough, the man and his entire family would be killed instantly; even infants were slaughtered as having pagan blood.
The Druid would not use any of their special knowledge to kill; but they did come up with a plan to take action to put a stop to the killing of all the innocent common folks. They knew hypnosis, and planned to capture Roman soldiers, use hypnosis to instill nightmares in those captured, then release them back to their fellows. If the roman soldiers weren’t getting much sleep as they traveled from one village to the next because of a few screaming through the night; they would not have the strength to chase down the innocent men, women and children who just wanted to live.
When they began, Druids and the Roman soldiers captured died in the process. The Druid wanted to understand what had happened; and as they continued they discovered the Angels. The Druid involved then took an Oath to Serve God for all time; and to keep safe the treasures of Heaven (which is knowledge). The old man said every man, woman and child with a living soul has a Heavenly Name and Divine Purpose.
Father did instruct that the Divine Knowledge be passed down to one individual in each generation of each family; until such time as He released the knowledge onto the earth once more.
