So we met in the cafe part of the church. They were very friendly and excited about my story. They're going to start a group after lent called Alpha which is all about Christian beliefs and you can learn and even speak up if there's something you disagree with. It runs for 8 weeks. I asked them to let me know when it starts so I can participate. The priest gave me the gospel of Mark and said starting with the biblical stories of Jesus is better than starting the bible from genesis. They also prayed over me and my partner which was lovely

Glad to hear it. Mark's is a good Gospel. I prefer Matthew, but maybe that's because it was the first one I read. I kinda like 'em all, LoL.

Nothing will make sense until you're more familiar with the NT, the story of Jesus our Savior and God, the Messiah, which is Hebrew for Christ (that's Greek).

Alpha is a very good course. It was devised by an Anglican. There is a Catholic version with some particularly Catholic points added on.

PrimFinallyFoundGod! I am very happy and excited you have found a place in the Alpha group. I love that name as it means beginning in exactly where you are in the beginning of your walk with the Lord. I would also suggest reading the book of John as that will help teach you about our relationship with Jesus and then read the book of Acts as this will teach you about the Holy Spirit. Just remember, there are never any stupid questions as asking that is how we also learn.

I'm Gods Elect. If I can steer you in the correct direction. Jesus is absolutely important. You should start from genesis, the beginning. To understand what happened in garden of eden. Misguided preachers lead Christian people down wrong path .Proverbs 16:21 the wise in heart be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increase learning. Sister, you won't yield spirtual growth under hirelings or misguided preachers. 18:15. The heart of the prudent gets knowledge, and the ear of the wise seek knowledge. To study with the wise will increase knowledge and learning. Listening to hirelings will set you back, and impede on your spiritual growth. Its your choice what path you take. PEACE.

Jesus did not say to go sit under a tree and read scripture. He was taught by His Rabbi just like we are to be taught by a trusted teacher.

Not all of us have the wherewithal to learn on our own.
