[__ Prayer __] I need to have a pup put down...

I have to go the the vet tomorrow to have my daughter's puppy put down. I'm really battling to fight the tears.
I know this sounds pathetic, but please pray for us? She's an only child and the puppy is a great comfort to a lonely child, and a wonderful companion. And for me because this will be really hard to do.

:crying Oh l'chante, I'm so sorry. I've had to to this before and it's not easy at all.

For kids it can be especially saddening.

But then, again, it is kind of illustrative that this life is not for ever...

Aw, :sad I had to put a dog down before and it was terrible, so I know how that feels. I'll definitely be praying for you and your daughter.

Awww that is so sad puppies are like little people :sad your poor daughter. I'l pray for her too.

Yip. Definitely right up there on my '10 least favourite things to do'-list. It actually hurts physically.

Hope you all get through it okay without too many tears....

Maybe you all can find something interesting and engaging to do afterward, to take your minds off it.

Probably a little late now to ask this question but what is the reason for the puppy having to be put down? Whatever it is I'm so sorry that you find it to be necessary.

K:

Sometimes it is kinder to put the old and scaggy animal down, than to keep it living a poor quality of life.

We had a Keeshond that "got too old" -

And we Finally had to Take him for the final ride. HE always slept by my chair - seemed he liked the company - but he was in pain.

And so we ended it - and I cried. There have been many dogs (and the occasional cat). it's never easy.

sniff, i miss my german shephard who i had to put down. she was a biter and we couldnt keep her and neither was there any who could take her.

its sad as that dog was abused to the point of no return, even though she had three yrs with us.

she passed on at age 9.

She was a still puppy. I bought her for my daughter's birthday in July this year. KDKID, something went horribly wrong in the lower part of her body the past two weeks. She completely lost bladder control and she was in agony. She couldn't even get up the step to our veranda, and it's only two bricks high. She spent three days on a drip at the vet and it looked like she was going to be alright, but when we brought her home, she went from really weak to just laying on the cool tiles in the bathroom. If you sat down next to her to stroke her, she would only wave her tail a little. She wouldn't even lift her head. It just broke my heart to see this little thing in so much pain. She was such a little cuddle-pup before she got sick.

It's hard to explain to someone what it feels like to hold that warm, fluffy little body against your chest and to just feel it go limp when the vet injects it.

:smt056 So sorry to hear this l'Chante. I hope your little girl gets through this grief OK, it's really hard to love a beloved pet, even if putting it down was the right thing to do, which it sounds as though it was. Poor little thing. Hugs to you and your little girl.

Lifting your daughter, and your family in prayer. A pet is a part of the family and I know that it hurts.

in Cods love

Thank you Littlelight. I never thought that a little puppy would crawl so deep into my heart.

It's the little things that I miss like the way that she would protect me from my own slippers - while I was wearing them. She would viciously attack them and then look up at me expecting to be praised, wagging her tail so hard that she threw herself off balance. Or the way that she would bounce up and down in front of the gate when I came home. My daughter said she looked like 'poodle popcorn'.

I really miss her and I often forget that she's gone like when I get out of the bath. I still expect to see her laying on top of my night gown. I guess it will become easier with time.

I am not ashamed to say that I love my dog, and I know I will experience profound grief when she dies. I suggest that your (and my) love for our pets, reflects the fact that God created human beings in a position of responsible stewardship for creation. In short, it is "our job" to care for animals. To the extent that a Christian is on the road to being the "fully human" person that Jesus was, we will, naturally enough, experience great love to the aninmals that are, just like us, created by God.

So please do not feel any embarrassment at expressing love toward animals. I suggest that feeling this way shows that one is on the way to becoming the fully human person that God intends each of us to become.
