[ Young Earth ] I Need to Learn More

Matthew G

Member
Hello, all. I believe that the earth is young, although my reasons for believing, to be completely honest, are not as solid as I would like them to be. I have to confess that I don't know all that much about the topic.

My wife's grandfather (a former pastor) had given me a book a few years ago called Unlocking the Mysteries of Creation. I apologize because the author's name has long since slipped my mind. I do, however, remember reading a few things in that book that stuck out to me and really made sense.

1.) The behemoth referred to in Job Chapter 40 fit the description of a brontosaurus or similar dinosaur (large belly, long neck, swings his tail as a cedar, etc.)

2.)Assuming the moon has always collected dust at the rate we now know it does - when Neil and Buzz landed on the moon, there should have been a great deal more than there was on the moon's surface. Working backwards at that steady rate, it would only take approximately 6000-8000 years to accumulate the amount of dust they found.

3.)Knowing that galaxies are moving away from each other at a steady pace, if we look at galaxy clusters and work backwards at that pace, we arrive at 8,000 to 10,000 years ago that they would have occupied the same space.

Apologies for not being able to give more specifics in my examples, but it's been quite awhile since I read the book, and unfortunately I loaned it to a friend who promptly moved away without returning it before changing their number.

And to be completely honest, the idea that the universe and the earth are billions of years old has always felt...just...wrong to me, even before I knew anything about Genesis.

So as you can see, I need ground to stand on which is much more solid than what I currently have. Where should I be looking to learn more about the evidence that supports a Young Earth? I would prefer to stay away from the internet if possible, because we all know,

"They can't put anything on the internet that isn't true."
:biglol

Thanks very much in advance!

First and foremost, study intently Genesis 1-4 KJV

Answers in Genisis has a creation series: http://www.answersingenesis.org/store/product/creation-mini-series/?sku=40-1-328

Ken Ham and Jason Lyle are amazing champions for the truth. This is a great book: http://www.answersingenesis.org/store/product/lie-25th-anniversary-edition/

Kent Hovind is another great resource, His creation series is top notch. They are free on you tube!! http://www.youtube.com/results?sear...1.0.111.867.7j2.9.0...0.0...1ac.1.HjP4vyDRDSQ

Then he has the college courses, 101,201,301 etc, etc. Each course has about ten videos.

Start simple, creation 101, not the college series but in general so you dont get overwhelmed. I have been studying young earth creation for over a decade and I crave it more than water!

Check out some of Jason Lyle's videos on logic and fallacys, it will teach you how to spot the lies in the evolutionary theory. He is an amazingly smart man, he blows me away with his knowledge. I am glad he is on our side!

Thanks very much for the reply and the recommendations. All of those have been bookmarked, and I can't wait to tear into them! Thanks again!

Your welcome brother! Also I should mention that you should alwways refer back to scripture as absolute truth and your ultimate guidebook. Put on your biblical glasses then look at the world.
Kent Hovind has said 2 or 3 things that I disagree with, but out of about 50-60 of his videos I have watched thats not bad, nobody is correct 100% of the time except for our Lord and King. Never assume someone is right, check gods word often. After you watch some DVD's and videos come back and tell us about it, I love discussing this subject and would be more than happy to answer any questions you have as I am sure other people here feel the same.

I would think that if a person thinks galaxies can move thatdistance in that time frame, they shouldn't be commenting on the age of theearth at all.

There is a line between commenting on the subject and commenting on the man. We will continue to expect our contributors to know the difference and conform their comments accordingly.
