I want to listen to christian music.

Well i have to admit i only listen to non christian bands, for the reasons that i have no clue which christian bands are good. I'd like to start listening to them. If you can direct me under the right direction and suggest me some, thatll be great. Thank you in advance. Some examples... I listen to the foo fighters, matchbox 20, the killers and the strokes. Just to mention some but anything is welcome really. ;)

Here you go... I've given you links to the artists' MySpace pages, and then names of some of the songs that I like that are available for streaming.

On Our Side, Beautiful

Finally Free, Legacy

Something a bit different - a few artists who don't really fit into the CCM category

http://www.myspace.com/denvermho - "big band" style music, jazz, swing, that kind of thing... one of my all-time favourite bands

Acoustic Medley, Get Down

http://www.myspace.com/relientk - I only have one of this band's albums, "Five score and seven years ago" - they're kinda punk-pop

The Scene and Herd, Deathbed

http://www.myspace.com/salvadorofficial - pop-rock with a Latin flavour

What Would It Be Like, Supernatural

http://www.myspace.com/fernandoortega - quiet, mainly piano and acoustic guitar-based, known for his arrangements of popular, old hymns

I would add to those Switchfoot's new CD "Hello Hurricane."

Christian or non-christian, it's all the Devil's Music! No denying that!

I recommend Lincoln Brewster

Just had to feel like throwing that in! There are a lot of baptist preachers claiming that the Devil made Rock music just to gratify the flesh and steer thousands away from Jesus and the "perfect" King James bible. They get really weird theories, like how we are all trying to join the Catholic Church, and abandon every since of worth that christianity has. :lol :lol :lol

Dude, if you like those alternative bands...yeah, worship and praise music always puts me in a good spiritual mood...but if you're looking for songs similar to your genre, then you NEED to check out these bands:

Skillet
Pillar
Kutless
Gretchen
Plumb
Demon Hunter (moderate screamage, so beware. their lyrics are REALLY good, though if you can understand them)
Thousand Foot Krutch
Five Iron Frenzy (sound like Smashmouth and Sublime..kind of)
12 Stones
FM Static
Sanctus Real
Disciple
Decyfer Down
Red (GREAT band)

hope that helps you out. myspace-ing them is the best way to check them out, or on amazon for samples. have fun, and happy hunting.

God bless.

PS: I'm liking that last part of you screenname. Final Fantasy VIII fan, I take it?

I recommend that you listen to John Michael Talbot, particularly the album The John Michael Talbot Collection, which is a library of 35 songs to keep you busy! It's not Rock, though. In fact, the music resembles that of hymns, Renasaince, and folk, but the music is nonetheless captivating and sometimes very powerful.

what about Britt Nicole? I suggest listen to Lost Get Found, thats a really good song of hers & Jeremy Camp is really good too

If you like Alternative, you need to check out Phil Danyew and Phil Wickman. Both are great artists, and I think they are also friends of each other.

I don't listen to Christian music. I just listen to music. Some of it happens to be by Christians, and some of it happens to be thematically Christian.

For more faith-based music, check out:

DavidCrowderBand (A Collision is my single favorite album of all time)
Sufjan Stevens (a college standard)
U2 (Of course)
Switchfoot (not my thing, but quite good nonetheless)
Welcome Wagon (just found this one; folksy gospel groove with clever lyrics and a good rhythm.)
Ben Harper (There Will Be Light is his gospel album; it's stellar. He isn't a Christian.)

It all depends on what type of music you're interested in, a good christian rap band is kj-52 .. Brian Litrell from the Backstreet Boys also went solo to pursue a christian music career. Mercyme is a good Christian band. You could youtube Christian songs and I'm almost certian Christian artists will pop up. Listen to a couple and find out who you like and don't like.
