  • Focus on the Family

    Strengthening families through biblical principles.

Focus on the Family addresses the use of biblical principles in parenting and marriage to strengthen the family.

if evolution says that there was only energy and it created all... well energy is energy no brain.

Ok. So, the issue I have with the presenter in this video is how he approaches evolution. He's out to attack it. He reminds me a lot of Kent Hovind in this regard. You cannot seriously discuss evolution by comparing a bicycle to a motorcycle. These are things created by humans and they're not alive. He claims that an etcha sketch can't evolve into an iPad. Well, duh.

So far, the theory of evolution is our best attempt at explaining the diversity of life on earth. It's something that we should want to know more about, not something that we should feel threatened by.

Bill Nye has debated Ken Ham on thee topic and I thoroughly enjoyed this one. You can watch it and make up your own mind. Personally, I thought Bill made a more compelling case.

Everyone believes in evolution.
.micro evolution.

And that does not explain the origin of life.
The eye and the interior of a cell has science pondering how these could have evolved.

I'm sorry but there isn't a fossil record proving evolution. It's just the opposite. I know you probably won't watch this but Jay Seegert has many many videos on this subject. Here is one of them. It's long but worth the watch if you want to. It's very detailed but he makes it easy to understand. I've seen him a number of times and there is no way I could present this information in here any other way other than this link. Besides I could never do it justice.

does it discuss the cambrian explosion?
Darwin was even puzzled abou this.

What about the fossil record?

And that does not explain the origin of life.
It doesnt explain the origin of the universe. But it could explain how life got started and the genetic diversity of life.

I watched this video many years ago, and I think Dawkins does a very good job of explaining how the eye evolved over time without devolving (no pun intended) into scientific jargon. The interviewer leaves a lot to be desired, however.

What about the fossil record?
The fossil record does not show gradual change. It shows different animals showing up at different times.
Plus the Cambrian explosion shows a myriad of animals that didn't even exist before.
This has science asking questions that they have no answer to.

It doesnt explain the origin of the universe. But it could explain how life got started and the genetic diversity of life.

Science has pretty much accepted the Big Bang theory.
It's exactly the origin of life that cannot be explained.
How did the first spark of life begin? Science does not know.

I watched it. His explanation makes no sense.
How did living beings get along totally blind for millions of years till they began to have that 100th of an eye and so forth.

At about 2.09 he admits that if something really difficult cannot be explained, they don't even consider ID.
They just go about trying to prove another theory. That makes no sense at all and shows laziness. Science should consider every and all possible solutions.

We know so much more now than even 50 years ago.
Science believed the universe always existed and instead it's been proven that it began.
So now some come up with the theory that something could come from nothing....anything but to believe in a creator.

What about the cell?
It's intricate design yells for a creator.
Have you ever watched video by James Tour?
It's incredible. Every cell is a little machine.
How did that evolve? How did man get along before it evolved?

There's nothing wrong if you want to believe that evolution is correct...
I just can't bring myself to accepting it.

This is James Tour. Hope it's the right one. Try at about 27.0

He covers the Cambrian explosion as well. The video I posted below, I mean.

That's true. Before you get life, you need a universe, and we don't know where it came from our why it exists.

Because they would have had other senses as well. The eye evolved as a, result of the environment that creature lived in. For example, my personal favorite, the giant squid, has a set of very large eyes that evolved to be so large because the animal evolved in an environment where there was very little to no light at all.

He said that science doesn't "wheel in" the supernatural whenever they are faced with a difficult problem. Which makes sense because saying "God did it" when faced with an unknown, is not science. That's sort of like going from astronomy to astrology.

And even if that's what they did, which god "did it"? How would a scientist be able to prove it was Yaweh and not Zeus?

We know so much more now than even 50 years ago.

What do you realistically expect them to do? They can't prove that God exists anymore than a Christian or Muslim can. If they can't do that, how can they prove it was God that created thee universe? Science is limited to the observation and study of the natural world. That's the best it can do.

No, I haven't seen it. I honestly don't know. From what I've read on the subject, live began as a single cell that eventually evolved into a multi-cell. I grew up in the States, and my education as it relates to science wasn't great. I'm still learning about this stuff myself. The education aspect of this is also covered in the video, btw. It's quite shocking to see how the US stacks up to other developed countries wheb it comes to science education.

It's not that I believe it in the religious sense. I find the evidence compelling, but of course, I still have many questions. What I find most disappointing is the fact that I had to go to an atheist YouTube channel to find this video.

ALL of the Christian channels were nothing but videos ATTACKING evolution. That's not how it should be, and it really combed across like they're deathly afraid of it. But they shouldn't be. Most Christians in the world accept evolution as a scientific fact. The only ones that seem to really hate it ate the evangelicals that take all of the biblical stories literally. Which I think is quite nutty, and it's how you end up with nuts like Ken Ham trying to convince everyone that man and dinosaurs coexisted with each other. Crazy.

Anyways, here is the video. It's about an hour and twenty minutes. Btw, if you could re-post that video that you wanted me to see that would be great. For some reason it didn't show up.

What I have taken away from how pastors and ministries talk about Evolution, is that it's always reframed as a religion and a catch all term for any idea or concept that Young Earth Creationists disagree with.

The theory is the explanations of the mechanics of how populations change (evolve) over generations. It is the explanation of why biological life is so diverse. The theory changes or is added to when more evidence or better data is discovered.

Phylogenetics is the study of how all biological life is related. Taxonomy separated all organisms into species, kingdoms, etc, and phylogenetic studies and tracks the genes and their origins. Whenever a species has its genes sequenced the picture becomes more clear.

The only people I have met that treat evolution as a religion can't seem to explain the.basics about it.
