I'm heard trumpets outside my house...???

I was taking my dog outside and all of a sudden I heard trumpets coming from nowhere...? I was listening to Christian music at the time and I was really into it. It came suddenly, and at first I thought it was part of the music, but then I turned it off and I heard it again! I live in the middle of the country and there were no cars around so I know it wasnt that. What do you think it was??? Thanks!

My gut is telling me things are really close. Just my gut though. Warning??? Awaken people? In my province, we had a major flood that decimated countless homes and lives causing billions in damage I estimate. So what do we do? We have a stupid stampede and parade and think that our life is still one, huge long party. People are not getting the point or heeding the warnings. It will probably get much worse. Would like to know if you hear the trumpets again.

It's not uncommon to hear angels. Trumpets, singing. I would not connect it with the end though as it's always been around. I have personally never heard these things, but it sounds reasonable enough from those that have.

Mike.

Sounds like a need for psychotropic drugs to me. I'm 53 and I have never heard angels and I only hear a trumpet when listening to "Of Monsters and Men".

The fascination with angels these days smacks loudly of new-age thinking. I have heard young girls (ages 12 to 30) talk about angels and all that they do for us, only for them to go on and say things like, "But all this 'Jesus talk' is just so 'yesterday'..." This modern-day fascination with angels is not at all Christian and it's not at all biblically sound. Do angels exist? Sure. Do they (unknowingly to us) interact with us? I am not convinced that they are allowed to.

You may want to seek help.

Thanks, I'm glad I'm not the only one that was going to say this. Hearing things (Actually thinking you are hearing with your ears, not just in your imagination) when there is no physical source of the sound is a good sign that you may have mental issues. True, angles have spoken to people in the past on very rare occasions, but these occasions all had a purpose and there was a clear message spoken. No where in the Bible are we told of angels simply playing music to us with no message for us. I agree that there is an overemphasis on angels (to the exclusion of Christ and His crucifixion) these days and I would be very hesitant to assume this is what you were hearing. Especially if this is something that happens to you more than once, you should see a doctor about it.

Hebrews 13:2
Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it.

See a Doctor? Are you kidding me? Mental issues?

Hebrews 5:14
But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil

I am taking this man's word at the benefit of the doubt. We are living in the most prolific, talked about times in the bible and you doubt this man. Exciting stuff is coming down the windpipe, and I want to be part of it instead of letting life pass us by. Wanna be working the harvest so to speak instead of hiding underneath a rock when it all goes down.

Joel 2:28
“It will come about after this That I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and daughters will prophesy, Your old men will dream dreams, Your young men will see visions.

Joel 2:29
“Even on the male and female servants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.

Acts 2:17
‘And it shall be in the last days,’ God says, ‘That I will pour forth of My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, And your young men shall see visions, And your old men shall dream dreams;

Acts 2:18
Even on My bondslaves, both men and women, I will in those days pour forth of My Spirit And they shall prophesy.

I think we need to quit putting God and the Spirit in a box that only manifests itself only in the ways described in the bible.

Habakkuk 1:5
“Look among the nations! Observe! Be astonished! Wonder! Because I am doing something in your days— You would not believe if you were told.

I do not disagree, but notice one thing: the "without KNOWING" part of that statement!

Oh, so those of us who are very careful about what we believe are "hiding under a rock"?
Just remember, MANY will be deceived ... And many HAVE been fooled - remember Waco, Texas and Jonestown? Those people believed they were following Jesus... right to their deaths.

I think we need to quit putting God and the Spirit in a box that only manifests itself only in the ways described in the bible.
If we don't use the Bible as a guide - what guide do we use? (Again, Waco and Jonestown, those people seemed to share your view.
I strongly urge you to really think this thru, the Bible is God's word to us. There is none other.

Try reading more than that one verse! ;)

One more thing:

As a parent of a paranoid schizophrenic son, I know how to recognize illusions. I have a son who sees and hears things that are not there. He has learned, since his diagnosis, to recognize when something is not real and he knows enough to speak to his doctor about it. A medication change usually helps, but the condition is only under control, there is no actual cure.

The statements I make are not ridicule or made in jest or to poke fun or offend. My statements are sincere.

I wish my son's condition was spiritual, because Christ is the answer for that... my son's condition has been proven to be medical, there are problems in his brain that make it function incorrectly, just like some of us have a heart, liver or pancreas that functions incorrectly.

If you often hear trumpets, unless there really IS a high school band practicing nearby - unless you can really make the case that God is trying to communicate with you in such a manner - you should keep in mind what I am saying.

Pizzaguy Since Ryan has posted a multitude of texts, I think it's clear he's reading more than one verse. :chin

I do however, agree with Pizzaguy that there is something wrong with the idea that the Bible is somehow a "box"... God has given us a precious gift with the Scriptures... His own Spirit breathed words that He will not contradict.

And, one text within that would be good to consider is that Satan likes to show himself as an angel of light. I believe that is 2 Corinthians 11:14

As per the OP....

@Wchristianfaith you seem to gravitate towards spiritual "experiences".... OK... we have a supernatural faith after all. But, the very reason why the Scriptures exist is so that we can build up discernment in order to test the spirits. I wonder, how much time do you spend in the Scriptures? Time in God's revealed word enables us to become discerning about what we are experiencing.

And, Pizzaguy's comments shouldn't be discounted as well.... we are physical beings and ones living in a fallen world, nonetheless. Absolutely, there can be other things happening besides valid spiritual experiences.

Reading Revelation one can deduce angels are more then just a bit part "in those days." More like an active, supporting role it appears. My personal opinion after studying this out is Michael and Gabriel are the Two Witnesses. Not betting my dad's house on it or anything like it, but a study of scriptures indicates this to be a possibility.

Test all things, I agree. But to suggest one needs to take psychotropic medication is pre-mature, don't you think?

Thinking, meditating, contemplating, learning is a never ending process. And no, I don't identify with wackotown thank you very much.

I do, and I take this at face value. Prepare to be amazed!

I am truly sorry for your son, and I can understand where you are coming from and the stance you have taken. I will not argue this point with you, but someone who comes on here, identifies as being a believer, says he heard trumpets, I kinda believe him. I don't bankroll the house on it, but it just makes me go hmmm....while trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together. To suggest he needs medication though, well, say what you will.

And there is a cure for your son, and it is Jesus. Take care and prayers will be prayed.

I do want to remind everyone to remain on topic and address the OP.

K...what did the sound of the trumpet sound like? How many blasts did you hear?

Psalm 89:15 How blessed are the people who know the joyful sound!
O Lord, they walk in the light of Your countenance.

Joyful sounds is 'teruah" which is signal, blast, alarm, sound of the shofar

I was referring to more than one verse in HABAKKUK. I've seen 'pastors' use that one verse to try to convince people that ANY WEIRD or "spiritual" assertion the pastor makes is valid.
I almost walked out of a church in Jackson, Michigan in the 1980s over such an incident. I ended up leaving within a month anyway, but that one incident realy "did it" to open my eyes to the (almost new-age) nonsense he was spewing.

Perhaps, but urging a doctor visit isn't.

No, I know. Just using the example to show you what I'm getting at.

I do, and I take this at face value. Prepare to be amazed!
Again, I refer you to my previous response to Handy. Once you read that, you will understand where I was coming from.

THanks, but...
Make sure you also pray for my sister's MS! I do wish they both would be cured, alas, they will only be cured when they get to heaven. :sad
