I'm new here, and a recovering ex mormon!

Ummm, I was a Baptist for lots of years, grew up in the Baptist church. No different than Mormon, bad doctrine is bad doctrine and destorys the ability to have faith in God. You can't have faith in someone your told is mysterious.

I would not, go seeking other ex-Mormon. Paul said one thing He knows, putting the past behind and looking forward. You don't want to get into a place where your talking against another group. It's not good for your spirit man, and you want zero roots of bitterness to come in.

The Mormon church does not believe like most of us do. If God has delivered you from there, then leave it alone.

You can help others by being the new example, without saying a word. A life full of the Spirit of God is a shinning life, and something people will be drawn to.

Blessings and Welcome.
Well Mike, that was a sting to the face. I have news though, being Mormon, Baptist, Pentecostal, Catholic, Presbyterian, Church of Christ and on and on and on will all get you into Hell just as fast as being a devout Atheist will. I am a God fearing Christian that happens to prefer the Baptist form of worship over the others. All religions will get anyone into Hell but I have Christian friends that go to many of the different sects of Christianity Churches.

He in the US we have a few Cults and you just threw every Baptist Believer in the Christ under the same bus that the cults will be crushed under. I am going to attempt to be less rude than you were but I do feel the need for you to do a Spiritual Inventory. I have found a few, very few, but a few Christians in most churches I have attended or performed in.

Praying for God to impart some of His knowledge to you, my friend.

Opps. I should have said the Baptist Churh I was raised in and not lumped them all together. There is Westboro Baptist Church and I don't agree with their Methods, and most other Baptist Churches don't.

My fault Brother, I am WOF, and am use to the beatings I get for what I believe. I forget others may not like anything negitive mentioned about their own denomination. Thank you for putting me in check.

The Baptist Minister down the street Prays in Tongues and found out that if you just Obey James and pray for Healing, expecting then the Scripture works exactly like it says. Something He just read and figured best to do it that way.

I did not mean to catagorize a denomination. I Give to the Cathloic food pantery in town, and free food is about all I agree with, but they do a good job.

Once again, sorry.

Baptists are very different from Mormons in their doctrine, and it depends on which Baptist church you are referring to.

It's actually extremely helpful, as they can relate in the similar struggles, such as how to navigate your new faith in regards to your family.

You don't get it, it's not like you can simply cut off all those influences and people that have been in your life. You need help, and ex-Mormons are great for helping people walk through this sometimes difficult transition.

You can help others by being the new example, without saying a word. A life full of the Spirit of God is a shinning life, and something people will be drawn to.
I have never in my life seen such advice...

You're addressing a woman.

TAylor is a women? I did not know with the picture of the guy and beard.

All the adivce I give is always backed by scriptures. What scripture don't you like?

I escaped a false reliegion Like Budah worship, I don't need to look back to what I was delivered from. Talking to other former Budah Worshipers Would be fine, but I need to focus on what is true.

Luk 9:62 kjva And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

AM I suppose to be getting back invovled here, or moving forward learning more?

Phi 3:13-14 kjva 13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Did Paul say, man, I have to go hang out with those ex-Pharrisee's and get through this change in my life?

2Co 5:17 kjva Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Is being a ex-Mormon still there, or does Scripture say it's passed away? All Things are New!!! I don't need help with something that is not there anymore.

I had no trouble going from Lost, to knowing I was saved. Goodbye, being lost!!!! Hello Saved.

Family:
Being Mormon and lost or being a Budist and lost is still Lost. Being just unsaved and Lost, is still lost.

What did Jesus say? He helps us save lots of heartache and trouble.

Mar 6:4 kjva But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.

Mat 13:57-58 kjva 57 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house. 58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

Where they offended at him? Yep.
Could he help them? Nope.

Jesus said those in our own house won't listen. Someone going from Mormon to Christian is going to make a whole lot of folks in their family mad. How I know? Jesus already said they would be offended.

Knowing this, I know better to expect anything, but to apprieciate everything. I still have prayer, I still have my example, and I am not going to get better results than Jesus did.

1Pe 3:1 kjva Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;

This works for unsaved family members also. Without the word, but just being the new creature and example in normal conversation can win over those in our own house. Without the Word though, just as the scripture says. With the Word, I speak against what they believe, and that causes striff.

Being an example without saying a Word.:
1Co 2:4-5 kjva 4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: 5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

Is it the Power of God that does the Work? or us preaching? I should have made it a bit more clear, but we don't preach to our own family.

Joh 16:8-9 kjva 8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;

The anointing on us, draws people to the Lord. Living in a temp Homeless shelter, I had 40 men who would not give me the time of day, until the day he Lord had me cast out a devil from a crazy guy. The Powe of God came, and after I was done with that Guy, I had the attention of all 40 for 3 full hours explaining Jesus and His goodness.

It was not words, it was demonstration of the Lords power in my life.

This isn't a debate forum, so I won't continue this dispute.

I just wanted to oppose your bad advice, because I care about this new poster and hope that they continue to reach out to us ex-Mormons for help.

I am glad your on their side.

I also am an ex-mormon, then ex-christian. I spent years researching and debunking mormon doctrine, I even had my own website. Leaving a belief is very hard and it is a very painful process, your whole world view gets pulled from out under you. But you do recover, and you start to find yourself and you start thinking for yourself.

X Christian? I doubt that you were a biblical Christian. If you were a true believer in the Christ of God, He would have come after you.

You don't want to get into a place where your talking against another group. It's not good for your spirit man, and you want zero roots of bitterness to come in.

I agree that I don't want to talk against the group anymore, and live off of the bitterness, but that is why I left the ex Mormon forums, because they were full of bitterness and I actually felt that I was not able to move forward. However, I don't agree that I shouldn't seek other ex Mormon Christians. Coming to Christianity from a cult is hard and I have a lot of questions on how to deal with certain things that only those who came from my former religion would understand.

Yes, people notice the change when you turn your life over to God and begin to change from the inside, and they are drawn to it. I have experienced this. Thank you!

How does your family feel about you leaving?Sometimes families will disown a family member if they leave a cult religion.

My family is taking it as a crisis situation. They do not disown me, instead they love bomb me or guilt trip me with things like "Don't you want to be with your husband forever?" Every once in awhile they "feel inspired" to tell me their testimony. I have not told my family that I am now a Christian so they still talk to me as if I don't have anything to do with God. Before I truly became a Christian I told my mom I still believed in Christ (I still had the Mormon idea of Him) and she said, "Then you are halfway there." That is so sad to me now that I believe He is the ONLY way, not HALFWAY.

Mormons need help, just like the rest of us. Being in Salt Lake for awhile, and seeing those signs to repent sinner and dealing with some of them, they are annoying. However, I find some of them very faithful in things, and hard core tithers. Look for the good.

Be blessed and empowered to overcome all obstacles that would hinder your Walk with the FAther and do His plan for your life.

Praise God, happy beyond words you have found truth and joy that salvation is by Grace through faith, not by tithing, wearing wrinkle free white shirts on Sundays or other Masonic like rituals.

I would Google Shawn mcCraney. He is an ex Mormon, wrote a book and had a show for a few years you could still watch on YouTube. If you like colorful personalities coming out of Mormonism, he's the go to guy IMO.

Hello Seeking Him
I used to be a Missionary to the Mormons and Jehovah witness but since my house is now black listed they no longer send their Missionary's and witnesses.
Mormon missionairys dont like it when someone tells them that the book of Mormon a lie disguised as the divine truth given by the angel Moronai who interpreted the Nephilim chronicles written on golden plates to Joseph Smith who is a false self proclaimed prophet. Like so many other religions The church of Jesus Christ latter day saints Mormons have been fed false teaching is trying to earn their way into heaven when there is nothing to earn our way into eternal life or trying to keep the law of the old covenant and the law of moses when we are under the New Covenant of Grace By Jesus becoming sin that every person comitted or will commit Past, Present and future In his death By Him becoming sin those sins died with Christ on the cross and was buried with Jesus in the tomb but when Jesus rose again those sins were buried for all eternity, Alleluia!:woot2
Gods perfect plan of our spiritual rebirth is as simple as ABC accept that we are not so good that we can earn salvation by our good works or that we are so bad that we can not have a relationship with God we must Believe that Jesus Christ is the way the truth and the life and no man comes to God the Father but through Jesus and Jesus alone and we must confess we are a sinner and ask Jesus to be our lord and redeemer we don.t instantly become perfect and sinless but we learn through the Holy Spirit guiding us our walk with Christ is a journey which we learn as we walk with Him.
Gods calling on your life very well may be you becoming a Missionary to the Mormons just as the apostle Paul was a missionary to the Jews as well as the gentiles.
and just know when you are in the storms of life that you have the Holy Spirit living in you and guiding you.
Have a wonderful Christmas BTW

Wow! That is some God-sent insight.

Why was your house blacklisted?
I think it was because he told the missionaries the Book of Mormon was a "lie disguised as Divine truth"!
Yes that is pretty much it in a nutshell
Because I told them the truth about their false doctrine and showed them how the book of Mormon is closer to the teachings of the Koran than it is the teachings of the Holy Bible. then I went on to explain the plan of salvation to them through the New Testament.
Pretty much the same reason why the Jehovah Witness don.t come around to witness any more by exposing their watch tower publications as false teachings their perverting of the Holy scriptures by exposing the Watchtower society version of the bible being in direct contradiction of the Holy Bible then sharing the same plan of Salvation that I showed the Mormons
both cults have to report to the church elders then the church elders would tell their missionary's and witnesses to steer clear from my house in fear that I may be able to reach them with the Love of Christ.

Good testimony I sure am glad that you got away from them.

Dont get me wrong my dear sister I welcome mormons and JW in my home any time they come knocking I never try to miss the opportunity to witness to them
the JW still come around to leave me leaflets in my door crack but they dont knock and leave real fast they do it sneaky because they know I will be the one witnessing to them instead of them witnessing to me:bible
