INTELLECTUAL IDIOTS (MANS SYSTEM OF BELIEF)(CARNAL MIND)
2 Cor 11:3
3 But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
Matt 11:25
25 At that time Jesus answered and said, "I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes.
John 6:61
61 When Jesus knew in Himself that His disciples complained about this, He said to them, "Does this offend you?
Matt 11:6
6 "And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me."
Matt 12:37
37 "For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."
Matt 18:3
3 and said, "Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.
Col 2:8
8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.
John 5:38-39
38 "But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe.
39 "You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.
John 3:34
34 "For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure.
1 Tim 6:3-4
3 If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness,
4 he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions,
Rom 16:18
18 For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple.
Matt 23:24
24 "Blind guides, who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel!
Matt 13:14-15
14 "And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says: 'Hearing you will hear and shall not understand, and seeing you will see and not perceive;
15 For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, so that I should heal them.'
Rom 3:18
18 "There is no fear of God before their eyes."
Luke 1:50
50 And His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation.
2 Tim 2:14-15
14 Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers.
15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
1 Cor 1:26
26 For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called.
Rom 11:25
25 For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.
Rom 12:16
16 Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.
Heb 4:12-13
12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
2 Pet 2:18-19
18 For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped from those who live in error.
19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage.
1 Cor 2:1-14
1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God.
2 For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
3 I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling.
4 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,
5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
6 However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.
7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory,
8 which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
9 But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him."
10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.
13 These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
John 9:39
39 And Jesus said, "For judgment I have come into this world, that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may be made blind."
Rom 11:8
8 Just as it is written: "God has given them a spirit of stupor, eyes that they should not see and ears that they should not hear, to this very day."
Luke 16:8
8 "So the master commended the unjust steward because he had dealt shrewdly. For the sons of this world are more shrewd in their generation than the sons of light.
1 Tim 6:20-21
20 O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babble and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge--
21 by professing it some have strayed concerning the faith. Grace be with you. Amen.

xxChristians are going to lose lots of carnal arguements to intellectuals. This is how they are separated, the sheep from the goats. But those who have lots of human wisdom also have lots of deception. Because to come to the Holy Spirit it is required to purge the carnal wisdom and have faith in the verses. Because the intellect is of the flesh and human wisdom. But faith is of the verses and strength to endure the humiliation by the intellectuals. An intellectual has to be right at all cost, and their arguement will waver back and forth until they feel they have won. But remember God has made foolish the wisdom of man. He who is from God speaks the Words of God(verses). Man is glorified on earth, but Christians will be glorified in the resurrection.

Heb 12:3
3 For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.

RATIONAL MIND
Mark 2:6-8
6 And some of the scribes were sitting there and reasoning in their hearts,
7 "Why does this Man speak blasphemies like this? Who can forgive sins but God alone?"
8 But immediately, when Jesus perceived in His spirit that they reasoned thus within themselves, He said to them, "Why do you reason about these things in your hearts?
Luke 5:21-22
21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, "Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?"
22 But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, He answered and said to them, "Why are you reasoning in your hearts?
(NKJ)

xxThe one big problem with the rational mind(reasoning out things) is that they assume that they know the truth about everything already. So they start out in their thinking with the assumption that they can know. But what does the Word of God say: unless you become as a little child, you will by no means enter the kingdom of God. And a little child just believes everything you tell them. Well that is what the Word of God says, just believe what the Word tells you. In reality the Word is saying believe it first and then God will open your understanding. But the rational mind says dont believe nothing until you have good reason behind it. This is the difference between accepting it on faith, and reasoning it out according to mans wisdom. The Word accually says to first repent then believe in the gospel. It doesnt say reason it out until it says what you want it to. To many have a pre-conceived idea planted by some man before they open the bible. Then they search to find something that supports their already pre-conceived idea.

Can you explain what the Spiritual rebirth is and do you think that Jesus was created? I ask this in all sincerity.

I used to regret not going to college. But now I am glad I didn't. College is touted as education which sounds good on paper, but it forms people into the image of the world.

Judas Iscariot was the only disciple of Jesus who was educated...kind of tells a story right there.

Ahem ,Paul, only he of the twelve could read, write, speak greek, latin, hebrew, aramaic.he was a freeborn roman ,meaning his dad had money and these were educated.

So being a doctor, biologist, physicts,aND so forth that require study is a sin.

You can go to college and avoid the pitfall
Hedonism the center piece of college and the military .

I was thinking of the twelve disciples. Paul was a special case.

And, no, I didn't say being a doctor or whatever is a sin...I said college shapes people into the image of the world. By the time one finishes college, having faith in God has been supplanted by carnal reasoning and logic. No room for God there, as a general rule I think. There will always be exceptions, but for the most part...no.

Actually all the apostles could read and write. Jesus saw Andrew reading Genesis account of Jacob having a dream about a stairway to heaven.
There was an educational system in Israel available to all Jewish children. It wasn't compulsory but all self respecting families sent their children.
Matthew (or Levi) was a Levite who used his reading and writing skills to become a tax collector for the Romans instead of entering the priesthood.
Only the best of the best students became disciples of Rabbi and one day became Rabbi themselves. Just because Peter was a fisherman doesn't mean that he wasn't able to read.

An education isn't necessarily a bad thing. Paul used his education in a new direction that he never dreamed of. Same story goes for Luke.
It's being prideful over your education and accomplishments that is what God and Jesus both hated...

i dunno. i grew up around people in who work in the university setting (state-funded), and...there's lots of pride, anti-Christ thinking, self-love, and huge egos. I mean...huge.egos.everywhere.

their "Christianity" was either the declawed Protestant variety or now and then an RCC-er. that was when I was a kid. these days...even that's becoming harder to come by, and when you do run across a "Christian," they're down with gay unions, gender deconstruction, easy divorce, etc...so...

-sigh- admittedly, i was driven out of a state college a bit over 10 years ago. just turned 23, riff raff, messed up as a teenager. when I came back, they weren't having it, and...I ended up crazy, attacked, lobotomized. true story. oh, and people tried to get my parents' fired from their jobs, too...

and now, by some act of God, I have a "high(er) IQ" (I'm guessing 130s...I'm now "extremely intelligent" vs "bright" as a teenager...weird, huh?), so I can handle the material more easily, but...

-shrug- I don't know if a degree ever really was in the cards for me. maybe. I did mess up, but...I now remember being driven out of the dorms, age 17, and professors and instructors generally coming down harder on me than on other people. not that its all their fault, just..."its how the world works," I guess. at least I wasn't expelled, nor did I fail out. anyway...

I don't value under-education, but I've seen the pride and self-love that characterize many people in the academic world. i mean, pride and self-love are pretty much part of human nature, so...there's that to take into consideration...but...WHOA...

to think that -those people-, not just the ones I know of but others just like them, are molding the next generation of people, ranging from kindergarten teachers up to people who will end up in med school, getting phds in this and that, etc...

more than a little bit scary, let's put it that way. i didn't get it when i was younger, but I get it much, much better now, and...-sigh- i don't know. if i ended up with a kid or in charge of someone's kid, i might recommend a decent 2 year tech school degree and a lot of reading on one's own time, honestly.

In hebrew, not greek,Latin .the temple taught hebrew not greek .Jesus able to speak all used aramaic, and hebrew .

The saying hebrew for the temple was around then.

The attack ,angst of hellenstic jews was over that greek ,versus hebrew language usage.

Most jews today and then dont study outside of the torah ,unless called to be a rabbbi.they dint teach the prophets etc as they do with the torah in schul.

One can be very intellectual whether they attend college or not. My dad was a very intellectual person with only an eight grade education. He could do anything he wanted if he set his mind to do so as he was self taught by experience. It's the same with a child of God as life that is in Christ teaches us many things by His Holy Spirit that indwells us. The Bible is our manual that teaches us of God's love and righteousness, but if you do not read it then how can one apply to them self the knowledge that it contains.

Most of us can not read other languages other then English and besides that it is the Holy Spirit that is our teacher who guides us into all truths. It's very confusing for someone who is seeking or yet still on the milk to understand why others would say something is incorrect in the scriptures. This can be a hugh turn off for those who have no understanding and causes a stumbling block. The problem is our English language uses various definitions for a single word and that is why it is so hard to learn.

Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

There is the key, seek. If we are truly seeking you will find truth as only the Holy Spirit can give us.

Colleges teach sciences, etc ..they aren't seminary unless you are going to one.I get the concern but they areNT to be religion full if they do choose

Oh you are just being kind to them. They are worldly and as such are in total enmity against God.

Oh you are just being kind to them. They are worldly and as such are in total enmity against God.
So why do you say that a doctor ,etc should go to learn?

I took a few cases with pre med in intro anthropology, history, sociology.

When you learn biology ,what view do you study.if you believe in no theocracy ,then why bellyache about s college or instution that isn't Christ friendly, don't think a college labeled as Christ based is friendly .I may be in it for the money .I'm sure those exist.

Do your research on them and pray.not simply avoid the idea of college .

I grew up being told ,college ,voting, owning. A gun ,serving in the military was a sin .I know the arguments .I went at 30,I saw the sin ,lusts there ,thr pro pot teachers etc .I learned just to do my work

I'm not on a crusade against colleges. I just made an observation. You may be trying to make a little too much out of what I said. In my walk with the Lord, over time, I'm seeing things. Learning things.

Like, the Holy Spirit will lead us into all truth and teach us. If man had never fell, would there be colleges today? I don't think so. We would be looking to God to teach us everything we need to know. It is in this light that I no longer regret going to college.

When Jesus returns again, and we're in His millennial reign, will the world's educational system continue? I think not!

I have a good aptitude for school work, always have. I prolly would have excelled in college. But where would I be today if I had went? Would I have the heart that I do? Not that I'm all that good, just that...It could be worse.

Having been a self employed business owner for most of my life and having had dealt with many different types of people, both educated and non educated working class...I can see very plainly that, (generally speaking), the non educated people have more honor than the edumacated (lol) people.

So, intellectual idiots is an apt title for the thread. Intellectuals have different values than non intellectuals...idiotically lol.

You got that right Brother! (not that the rest is wrong, lol. Just sayin')
I see that a lot. It's even been displayed here on this board. Edumacated people have a lot of pride and the vanity of, oh I'm educated...So I do think that it's possible to be...how they say, over educated.

Little wonder that scripture says we are to become as little children. Little children do not argue with daddy. Daddy you're wrong, explain...blah blah blah. We are also not to lean upon our own understanding. Which means set the carnal mind aside, recognize and admit that I'm spiritually stupid and carnal minded...Lord help me. And no matter how weirded out or strange God's words and teachings are, accept them. We do not have to be able to understand God in order to have faith in Him and follow Him...Like a little child, right?

Little kids do not ask where they are going when you're driving. They are secure knowing that they are with mommy and daddy, and sit back and enjoy the scenery.

A lot of the scriptures are...very weird upon their face. Many of us are inclined to brush those scriptures off and decide, well it can't mean what it says, there must be a deeper meaning to it...that's our carnal mind trying to make sense of it. It can't and never will. The flesh mind is carnal, and the spirit is spiritual. Spiritual things can only be discerned spiritually. The scriptures are wonderfully simple. God is not the author of confusion.

We have to be able to receive it. We have to be teachable.

I believe that God gives us the understanding of different things when He knows we are ready for it, not when we think we are.

But I would never call anyone an idiot. I'm sure we are told not to somewhere.
Let's not judge one another. That's not always easy though.

There's book smart and then there is experience smart. Not putting down people that go to college, but look how many have and are now working minimum wage jobs. Kudos to those who have gone on and found jobs in their profession, but even still it makes them no smarter than I am in those things I know that they do not.

I feel for those who have gone to college and university, spent several years studying and then are unlucky enough not to find a position in their chosen career. They have worked hard for their achievements and it must be very discouraging.
There must be a reason for it. Perhaps God wants them somewhere else.

We would be lost without doctors, teachers, etc. Knowledge has increased just as prophesied. I thank the Lord that some of us are gifted in this direction. We would also be lost without those working in humble jobs where you also find many genuine Christians.

We are all different. God has His people everywhere educated and uneducated, rich and poor. We all belong to the same body and all are equal in God's sight. We all have weaknesses we all have strengths.

Hopefully we all love each other, because if we don't we are in big trouble.

I never implied that one should value education over Godly things oh and believers create idols all the time.

God knows ,He will take then fRom you or show you how much you worship them if you let him.

These can be

Jobs,kids,spouse,cars,homes, hobbies.looks etc
