Is a good deal really worth killing a man?

Before police shut down the store, eager shoppers streamed past emergency crews as they worked furiously to save the store clerk's life.

"They were working on him, but you could see he was dead, said Halcyon Alexander, 29. "People were still coming through."

Only a few stopped.

"They're savages," said shopper Kimberly Cribbs, 27. "It's sad. It's terrible."
If a full fledged depression hits these same people will think nothing of looting, killing and stealing. It's good to own a few guns.

And I do! As well as many Melee weapons I'm trained with too. :fullauto :fencing

It would be a nightmare to have to use mine but the times are a coming when one may have to defend ones self.

I've got quite the collection to provide me with all the protecting i need. :yes

13 rifles (Including an AR-15, RUGAR Mini-14 Target, M4, Remington Model 700 300WM Sniper)
7 shotguns (Including 2 pistol grip tactical, 1 break barrel, and 1 10ga)
2 handguns (9mm Browning and my pride and joy .50 Smith and Wesson)

I also am a pyrotechnic, I know how to use many substances to make a big bang :-)

And on top of that I have 2 going on 3 years of Military training, needless to say i will be fine :thumb

Man, you're lucky. We're not even allowed to protect ourselves with cutlery over here.

I could hardly believe this when I saw it on the news.

How terrible has society becomes when a person is killed because of the hysterical rush of a mob to gorge on the consumerism that the holidays have become.

Sad for the family of the person that lost his life, and terrible for the people who could not be bothered from their shopping spree by someone who lost their life.

These verses have been going through my mind since I heard about this tragedy..

2 Timothy 3:1-5

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

The victims cousin is right, someone should be held accountable. If it were up to me, i'd arrest the entire mob and charge them with manslaughter. How many who played a part in killing that innocent man would view themselves as kind and compassionate? Yet, when they see a chance of saving a few worthless dollars, all morals are out the window. A man is dead and they're free to carry on deluding themselves.

Unfortunately not much can be done in that area Gabriel.
There's need for some kind of "stampede control" when people in large numbers are waiting for the doors to open to a store/establishment. Hopefully these places will view mobs waiting outside as a potentially unsafe situation. Maybe we'll see something done in the future.

Tim said the same thing, that everyone of them who trampled that man should be charged with murder. But algthough it can't be done here, I think that they will have to answer to God for it. I hope that this Christmas, when all of them are enjoying their family time and opening their precious gifts, that they remember the man they killed.

I think Wal-Mart should be held accountable for inciting a riot. I hate Wal-Mart anyway for many many reasons.

No offense intended but this is backwards, un-Christian, typical American thinking. Virtually everyone I talk to up here doesn't understand this fascination and "need" to own firearms. Whatever happened to "It's good to know God"? Anything else shows a complete lack of faith and trust in God to protect.

No offense taken, but you are reading way too much in to owning a firearm, and making totally wrong judgments based on opinions that I won't answer to.. because they are far removed from the reality of my spiritual life and faith in God.
Just so you know.. God can take care of us and defend us in any situation. But, He also might give us a means to hunt and guard our land in "hostile" circumstances. I suspect He will be moving both ways in the days that are coming; He's God and he can do whatever and however he wants.
A gun sure doesn't take away my dependence on Him or give me a false sense of security. It's all in God.

Well in my case i just love long range target shooting, shooting clay "birds" with shotguns and pest control. That is the main reason why i have so much guns. Even though my faith in God is strong, i don't think faith alone will stop a bunch of guys (with guns) from breaking into my home and looting and perhaps even killing my friends and family, in fact my faith would make me an even bigger target "Lets rob them, they are Christian, they won't harm us" :nag

I think Guns are a tool, they can be used for fun or turned around and used for protection. Think out this: Why do churches have lightning rods? will faith stop the lightning from striking the steeple? i think not, but if you have the right "tool" then you will be fine. My :twocents

At a time when I was quite secular I came home late one night, like about 3:30am, drunk as a louse. My wife was alone at home since we had no kids as yet and we lived out in the sticks, in a mobile home. My fumbling with the doorknob, I was trying to do it quietly, must have awakened her but I didn't know that.
From behind the door came the unmistakable sound of a cartridge being chambered into a 12 gauge shotgun.

:shocked :shocked :shocked :shocked :shocked

HONEY!!! IT'S ME!!!!

:o

Sobered me right up.

Wow, that could have ended up bad :o

I hold the keys to all my guns except one my father is able to use a pistol grip 12 gauge if he needed to, But my German shepherd gives ample warning, so the gun is the last resort.

I found this pic that i think suits this thread.

Well, it didn't end up bad and I should have announced myself because I taught her how to use the thing in the first place. Living out there where we were there were no street lights or neighbors. So when I wasn't home she was alone. She was a fairly attractive woman and the circles we associated in were a bit less than Christian.
Just that sound was better than her calling out, "Who's there?". Had it not been me at the door and her defenseless maybe things would not have been as I had left them.

And yes, the debate concerning guns will go on and on.
