Is A revival Coming?

Amen, Sister. They had a total defeatist attitude. God doesn't like whiners! We're called to be mature in Christ. Have courage, be of good cheer, to be strong in the Lord... It's a good thing Caleb was with them, to diffuse their defeatist talk.

Unity of faith can't happen until the defeatist talk is quashed...have some faith, Brother's & Sisters!!

Amen Brother, preach it!!

Question: "What is the story of Joshua and Caleb in the Bible?"

Answer:
Joshua and Caleb are two Israelite men whose stories offer an example of faithful commitment to the Lord. Both men came out of Egypt with the Israelites through the Red Sea and into the wilderness. Joshua and Caleb were selected along with ten other men to explore the Promised Land and give a report to Moses and the people.

After a 40-day exploration of Canaan, the explorers reported, “We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit. But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large. We even saw descendants of Anak there” (Numbers 13:27–28). This report frightened the people (Numbers 13:31–33).

Caleb had a different attitude from the other spies. Verse 30 records, “Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, ‘We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.’” When the people complained that they could not go up to conquer the land, both Caleb and Joshua responded strongly: “Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh . . . tore their clothes and said to the entire Israelite assembly, ‘The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good. If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us. Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will devour them. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of them’” (Numbers 14:6–9).

God judged the people of Israel by making them wait 40 years to enter the land. He also promised that every person 20 years old or older would die in the wilderness and would not see the land with two exceptions—Caleb and Joshua. Why? “Because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it” (Numbers 14:24; see also verse 30). Verse 38 adds, “Not one of you will enter the land I swore with uplifted hand to make your home, except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.”

This promise came true. After the death of Moses 40 years later, Joshua led the people across the Jordan River into the Promised Land. Caleb received an inheritance in the Promised Land in his old age (Joshua 14).

The faithfulness of Joshua and Caleb teaches us that we are to stand for God even when others will not. When we do, God may choose to bless us in ways that will extend for generations to come.

Billy Graham was obviously the last evangelist sent by God.

True humility. True gentleness. True heart for the lost.

I remember football stadiums in CA (Oakland) being filled to capacity with people all listening to him intently. Even the field was filled with chairs.

Haven't seen the like since.

His ministry could be called the last great revival. More souls saved than any other preacher can claim.

His son Franklin is a good man with a good ministry but he ain't his father. I got nothing bad to say about him. But his draw isn't the same as his father's was.

I sure do agree with you my friend. Back when I was an "Independent, Fundamental, Baptist legalist" I used to pick apart Dr. Graham because of the men he would let on the platform with him. When the Holy Spirit was tired of this servant of and my legalism, He Baptized me with a Baptism of Love as I was being Baptized in the Holy Spirit. I've never been the same since.

Billy Graham? He's a Hero in my book and I thank you for speaking well of him in this Forum seeing that there might be some who don't agree.

Caleb is a hero of mine. His name means "little yappy dog". Probably more of a description than anything else.
He did his time in the wilderness even though he did nothing wrong.

He went around with everyone else with Joshua leading the fighting for almost every town they took.
The exception was Kirith Arba. The hometown of the descendants of Anak.
He was " given" that town as a reward for his faithfulness. He went in and wiped out the city of giants. Then gave the town away to the Levites as a city of refuge for one accused of murder. It's named Hebron.
Amazing man IMHO. I want to meet him one day.

Malachi, is there anything that you can think of that might bring a revival? Anything?
The only things which could bring revival as per Revelation 1-3 and Ezra-Nehemiah are:
1. The absolute necessity of repentance by all those in spiritual leadership. Preachers and teachers must be convicted first.
2. The absolute necessity of repentance by all Christians in all Bible-believing churches.
3. The honest confrontation of sin and sinning saints within the churches, and the correction of these conditions.
4. The purging of all false doctrine and false practice from every church, and the return to the authority of the Word.
5. The conversion of all false professors in every church, who are poor, wretched, miserable, blind, and naked.

As you can see, this will never happen, and the "John Baptists" will be "beheaded" sooner than the "Herods" repent.

Guess christians dont sing Victory in Jesus and more...

2Ch_7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

O my friend, do you really think we could experience a revival? I sure do hope so.
yes we can have true revival " we" it starts with us . will there be a big mass revival it is possible . it starts with "US "

My friend, Chopper. You are loved!

By "our country", you are talking about the U.S. Unless the Lord does some radical moves in the hearts of a few, we will not have that national leader on his/her knees in a plea for wisdom you desire. I've prayed for that person as well, and I sometime feel like Israel in 2 Samuel 8. The U.S. isn't Israel, so the comparison isn't to be had. In a day and age where the "world" has turned its back on the Author of Life, it is now more than ever the time for those who do believe to be what Jesus prayed for in John 17:20-23.

For those who believe, to be unified in our desire to be Matthew 5:14-16 that He would be glorified is vital. One invisible Church, a unified light visible to the entire world. All for His glory, because He is worthy! I cannot expect the world to see what we have been unwilling to come together to be, and so we must take hold of the prayer Christ had in John 17. I'll stand with you, brother!

O favored of God, Mike, and favored by me in praise for your spiritual insight. Thank you for your reply. I sometimes think that because Israel is under attach by merciless Country's that surround them, the fact that the USA has been a strong ally, God might consider a revival so that America will continue to bless Israel and in turn God would bless the USA.

We can still pray, in the Spirit" for God to wake up America with a revival of all revivals. Thanks for your prayers as well. When two are gathered........

Thank you for that piece from "Got Questions" That reminds me, that we all have to be careful to be faithful to what God has said. Not waiting for Him to say something new or further. Sometimes He speaks but we don't listen and when it comes to a time of action, we have forgotten what He has said concerning victory.

Brother Chopper, this was written to believers at the time of great persecution in the early days of Christendom, but its tentacles of oppression reach forward to that great day of Christ’s coming in the air.
Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Do I believe there will be a great revival prior to our personal catching up? There’s reports that in China alone there are 30,000 per day converting to Christianity, and that of course is among great persecution. http://www.charismamag.com/spirit/revival/14745-the-biggest-revival-in-history

What I fear is that among the Church we have those warming to the world, no longer running the race to win Christ as bridegroom (Php 3:8), and willing to settle for less than they could have. E.g., all in Christ are heirs of God, but some will attain into the reward of joint-heir IF they suffer (Rom 8:17), endure (Rev 2:10), or patiently keep the word of God (Rev 3:10).

I agree my friend. What do you suggest that we do? Look forward to what?

We're looking forward to a better future. An overall victory in the promised land. Shouldn't we have confidence that the One who defeated death will also triumph over the living? From our personal perspective things may at times seem headed the wrong way, but the tide was turned at Jesus' Resurrection.

Even Jesus considered the gentiles to be dogs in the spiritual sense.

Matthew 15:
26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.
28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

Caleb was definitely an example of a converted by faith, dog. As was the woman above.

Not every insult from Jesus is as it seems on the surface.

We can look at ministries over in India, Africa, Pakistan, etc. etc. that Gods servants are being persecuted even to death for their faith in Christ and the witness of His name. We might not be experiencing most of these things here in America yet, but we need to know it is coming our way and even now is in our country as our government is getting more corrupt then ever and making hidden deals with foreign countries to bring this world into a New World Order where the son of perdition will be revealed.

Who should we blame for what is going on in this world, the Government, the Churches, Satan or ourselves!!! I will say ourselves as if we would put more energy into witnessing Christ to others than we do arguing and debating Gods word we could make a big difference in the world. It truly does not matter who is right or who is wrong through the teachings of theology or doctrine for if we are allowing Gods Spirit minister His word to us then we need to stand by our own convictions of faith in Christ and be that witness that God has called all of us to be so we can get back to basics and take His salvation message out to those who need to hear and will accept Jesus into their hearts and also to help meet the needs of those less fortunate then ourselves.

Revival starts with self as each one needs to get out of their comfort zones and be the warriors for Christ that He has called us to be. By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left that we take no thought of our self as God goes with us, 2Corinthians 6:4-7.

There is a great falling away from truth more so now then ever and the son of perdition will be revealed, 2Thess 2:3. We are heading closer to the last days and who will stand.
