Is it Biblical for a Christian to marry an atheist?

I think there would just be too much disagreement that would eventually end in strife. I think 2 Corinthians 6:14-15 says it all.

I'm not sure the Bible forbids Christians to do it - but if you're living your life according to faith, and she/he is living their life according to the world, how does that not generate conflict?

I dated a super Christian one time. We had a discussion about Adam and Eve and "why can't you just believe?" got tossed in there. We didn't date for very long. ;) The reason we broke up was because she was so obsessed with marriage and being a house wife. And not necessarily marriage to me.. Anyone. She just couldn't wait for it to happen. Anyway..

Considering the number of people out there who are closet atheists I'm sure it happens often and probably isn't a terribly big problem. Besides the lies.. But many people lie to themselves all the time and don't even realize they're doing it.

Sorry, I don't understand. The lies?

Telling your spouse you believe in God when you don't. Or lying to yourself by denial.

Ah, ok. Yes, honesty is so important in a marriage. If there is honesty, the couple can grow together. But if one spouse hides his/her beliefs and feelings from the other, then the couple will grow separately and often apart. JMO
