I have a male friend named matt.He is a catholic, and goes to church every sunday, but doesn't really believe in God or Jesus, isan active bisexual, and his theory on drinking and other things is it's right as long as you're sober on Sunday morning. He recently began teaching sunday school to little four- year olds.(i have no clue why)Is this right? Do I have any room to judge him?

WHat you have described to me sounds like a wolf in sheeps clothing. What is my concern is what is he teaching these children? hmmmm
But we are not to judge, but clearly he himself haven't received the gift of slavation, or even so haven't fully understood who he is.

As a friend talk to him about salvation, how to really have a relationship with God. The worse thing is to be commanding and tell the guy "You are a sinner and drunk and you shouldn't do this and that!!" People will never respond to such statements. Be caring, love him and show Jesus' example, he befriended tax collectors and prostitutes.... but they fully experienced God afte accepting Jesus.
Sometimes too many people concentrate on the wrong instead of talking about the right.

However, about the sunday school teaching ... i really can't say what to do. It depends on the situation. But keeping in mind, it is someone who gave him that position, so maybe they are not aware of his life style. But even telling the person in authority may have some reprecussions. So pray about what to do... and i know God will give you the right answer.

I really think that if He doesn't believe in God than he shouldn't be teaching Sunday School. Of course I cannot condone many of Fundamentalist teachings so my opinion doesn't count.

He teaches the children about salvation, and Jesus. To christianchic no not many people at his church really know.I've tried talking to him about his beliefs in Jesus and God and he just believes that he's been condemned to hell , no matter what, so he lives the way he wants.

I'm not trying to condemn or judge your friend, but I don't think it's right that he be teaching Sunday School. He may very well be teaching the Bible's plan to salvation and the other Bible stories, but he can't be a true example unless he believes it himself. Has Matt thought about what the church will do when they discover the truth? Because in all honesty, one can't hide that lifestyle for long.

I think your friend needs some serious prayer. He sound terribly confused about a lot of things. I do hope that you or someone else can help him find the truth. May God open his heart...

As far as your judging him, remember what the Bible says. Jesus tells us not to judge, and He also says that if we do, then we will be judged by our own measure. God is the only judge. Our job is to represent Christ and Christianity to the absolute best of our abilities. We are to be loving, forgiving, merciful, joyful, gracious, and all the other fruits of the Spirit. Therefore, leave the judging to God - he's much better at it anyway.

I'll keep your friend in prayer...

CLY

I don't know if I'm really the right person to tell him anything, I mean he knows me, and well I'm not exactly the best of people either.

Um...First, I'm doing just as CLY is, and praying for the situation.

How can he truly teach it, if he doesn't believe all of it? The fact is, he can't. he can teach the knowledge, but he's lacking the ability to guide the heart. The Heart is more important.

I don't know, he claim's that he can still teach it to these kids, and their just kids anyway.Plus he claims he love teaching these children,I don't know why he's knid of a confusing person.

Sometimes the best we can do for others is pray. It's frustrating not being able to do anything more, but you said you've spoken to him; that's all that can be asked of you. Once the truth is laid on the table all any person can do is answer questions and pray. I don't doubt you've done what you can.

None of us are perfect. We all have things that we've done that we are terribly ashamed of, but that's what makes a Christian's testimony so great. It shows just how wonderful and merciful God's love is for us. Just because you may have done some things that your friend knows about doesn't mean that he won't listen, but I understand that you probably wouldn't be comfortable being the pot that calls the kettle black. So, as I said, sometimes we can only pray, and sometimes that's all that God needs us to do - lay it in His hands.

Yeah,I guess you're right. I'm just afraid of being a hypocrite.
I think I heard this quote one time , all I can do is paraphrase it now, it talked about all the faults in some of the greatest people of the bible,Rahab was immoral, Peter had little faith, Moses stuttered,Paul was sickly, Elijah was suicidal.David had family problems and committed adulteryThe last part asked so what's your excuse for not serving God?

The judgement call is tricky, there is room to judge certain things. Like if you see your friend coming out of a porn shop, with porn books, you could safely make a judgement that your friend is wrong. Thereby judging that person. But if you do the same thing you cannot make the judgement call. Because you have a beam or mote or log in your own eye. There is something I think in first Cor 6 where we are to judge certain matters within the body of Christ without going to the law. So we have sort of a principle here. If a man rapes somone you can make the judgement that he is dead wrong, thereby making a judgement that he should be punished for his crime. That is why God put certain people in place to judge the people, Romans 13. But there are times when we can't make a judgement on another person. So as I said it is tricky.

Well , I don't dabble in the same things but what I do/have done can be considered just about as bad.

Okay, this is truly freaky, and funny in an ignorant way.Today my friend told me that either God must be real, or the must of had some awesome psychotropic plants and stuff back then. All I could do was stare at him and try not to laugh, and say are you kidding me,You You, just finished teaching little kids about the path to righteousness.

If the church knows the situation yet still can't make a judgment call.......HOW PATHETIC can things get!??!! More humanistic politically correct demon inspired tolerance at the expense of those little souls, will we ever get a clue??!! The guy is a PRACTICING bisexual for cry'in out loud...and he's teaching sunday school to little children, and it would be wrong to judge this??? UNREAL!!!!!!! :o

Yeah, I guess you're right, that is kind of pathetic. What are these kids going to be like because of this, is this going to affect them in the future.

Matthew 18:6 if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.

Wow, so it is bad for him and for theses kids, but how do I even confront him about this, he acts like he loves teaching these kids,it's as if for him these kids are like penance for all he is doing, and has done.

Only Jesus can be his penance, he needs decipleship from someone who loves the Lord himself. He needs to be taught......he doesn't need to be teaching!
Before any of the above can happen he would have to have a repentant heart toward God and want those things.
Unless you are in a postition of authority in the church he teaches in this really can't be corrected by you nor is it your place. You can try to influence him to give it up, but ultimately the leadership of that church is accountable for who they allow to teach their children.
The leadership of that church is more accountable than the guy who is teaching those children, they are the ones who hold the position of authority.
If they knowinly are letting a professed atheist who admits he's a practicing bisexual teach their children, then they are 100 times worse than that guy is.
That makes them a synogogue of satan who use God as their poster child to promote God knows what, they obviously don't have enough biblical knowledge or conviction to know their right hand from their left.
I feel sorry for the unsuspecting victims who end up in places like that.
