My name's Mark and I'm a 45-year old amateur songwriter

I've been 'on the fence' for years but I really feel that I need to commit. Trouble is, I really don't know if I have enough faith

I've agonised many times over this and I'd really appreciate your help in my becoming a Christian

Many thanks

Mark :)

Hello Mark. If you're asking the question, then it's not too late. What do you mean by "not having enough faith"? If you wait until you are equipped to be a follower of Jesus then you are missing the point. His grace is sufficient—just come to Him. Romans 3 tells us (NIV):

21But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

I heard bible teacher/pastor Steve Brown say on his radio show years ago that waiting to be ready or good enough before coming to Christ is a bit like being struck by a car as you are walking. People rush to you and say "Oh my! I'll call an ambulance", but you say "No, don't bother, I'm a mess right now, look at me. Let me go home first, clean up, put fresh clothes on and bandage up this leg. Then I'll go to the hospital".

Go to Him now, He's waiting. And He loves you.

Jesus also said that he didn't come to heal the well but the sick. God loves fixing people up, so don't be shy if you think you have some rough edges. If you think that you haven't made the leap of faith to commit yourself fully to God, then just say something like, "Lord, I need help. I accept you as my God, and I want to be clean." God doesn't expect a lot from us, so He doesn't demand a lot either. Finally, some people think, as I have, that when God takes full control of our lives, we might not get what we want or will be disappointed. That's completely wrong. God said Himself in Jeremiah 29:11-13,

11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

I'll keep you in my prayers.

These last two posts were perfect. I 'd like to add that reading the Bible everyday helps people come closer to God through His words. To have faith in God is to turn to Him for everything. Speak to Him every waking hour. When I came to a better understanding it was through asking the Holy Spirit to enter my heart. After that, I didn't look at the world the same way and have been trying to follow Christ's ways since. I say try because we all fall short and need constant reminder, repentance and prayer...

Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face continually. Psalm 105:4

Best Wishes

Not much I can really add, except just go to God, get before Him, confess your sins and your need for Him in your life. Ask Him to increase your faith. Then put your seatbelt on and get ready for the ride of your life! :yes

I couldn't agree more with what all the brothers and sisters have said here, such good advice, its never too late, and if we wait until we think we are going to be good enough, ready, or at that place in our lives we need to be to make that leap of faith, it could be too late.
The time is now and like the last post says, once done, get ready for the ride of your life, lol, good, bad and indifferent, you will have a journey ahead that will shape the new you, yes the new you. You are born again, and you will change from the inside out, but trust me, it will be worth all the emotional pain, suffering and indifference you are going to experience..............., oh there is joy, peace and contentment mixed in there as well, but its not all peach's and cream either, you will come under some sort of persecution for your believes, one way or another, but remember with God, all things are possible. Good luck and God bless Brother.

It's never to late to become a christian, never, the only time it is is once you have past away. So become one before it truly is too late.
