Is Jesus God?

(Post removed. ToS 2.1: "This is a Christian site, therefore, any attempt to put down Christianity (or declare that it is false) and the basic tenets of our Faith will be considered a hostile act. Please read: Statement of Faith." Violation of CF.net Doctrinal Statement (part of our Statement of Faith) which states in part: "We believe that Jesus of Nazareth is the promised Messiah, born of a virgin, totally without sin, God in human flesh" To state as an answer to the question that "He is the SON of God..." with purposeful emphasis put on the word "son" is to deny that he is God". Here is what the scripture speaks to us today -

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
1 Timothy 3:16

10 "And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn. Zechariah 12:10

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made . John 1:1-3

56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad . 57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? 58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was , I am . 59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself , and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by . John 8:56-59

Jesus Christ is Lord.

Jesus Christ is YHWH, manifested in the flesh.

He created all things!

Jesus is God!

His is the name above all names!

Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, Philippians 2:9

The Son has the same name as the Father! YHWH!

I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name--the name you gave me--so that they may be one as we are one.
John 17:11

There is only one Lord, and He is God!

For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I gave Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in your place. Isaiah 43:3

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.
Isaiah 40:28

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
John 1:1-3

My understanding is that Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit are the same being. God uses Jesus for the purpose of us understanding Him and recognizing Him. The Holy Spirit to communicate with us. The question I have wondered is will God still need to use all three in heaven.

We believe that there is only one God, who is eternal and immutable, and manifests Himself in three distinct Persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Closing this untill the forum mods have time to read it...

Thread re-opened. Explanations of what I did is contained in the individual posts that I edited. Obadiah.

Was that a leading question for non-believers? Also, what was meant by, what do you mean? :confused

Do a couple of us need to dust off our Bibles?! :lol:readbible:couch

God does not change in his nature, he exists as one in essence and three in person. God doesn't use Jesus, he is Jesus. God doesn't just speak through the Holy Spirit, he is the Holy Spirit. They aren't masks that he puts on in order to play different roles. They have existed in loving relationship for all eternity, for this is God as he is, not as he wishes to make himself appear.

I understand what your saying. It wasn't my intention to make the trinity to sound like God is putting a on mask to play different roles. They have always existed but for us God came as Jesus so we can recognize him. Is there any scripture that tells about the trinity in heaven?

Like this one, brother?

1 John 5:7
7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one./(KJV)

If anyone here does not believe that Jesus is God then who is He?

Is Jesus God?
He never dies.
Yes, He is all that the Father is.
No, He has always been the Son.

Jesus is Gods firstborn and therefore is before all things visible and invisible except the Father. The firstborn of all creation as is written. Gods firstborn would be a being and such a being would state "before Abraham was born I AM"

Is Jesus an angel?
No- The fullness was pleased to dwell in Him. (given not made) And the creation was made through Him. All the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Jesus and all the fullness of God dwells in Jesus in bodily form. I hold to a bodily resurrection.

How then do we baptize then? Baptize in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. -Note the word "Son"

"For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him." (Colossians 1:16 NASB)

Hmm, this made me think of this scripture:

"24 Then the end will come when he (Jesus) hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. 25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.

28 When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him..." (1 Corinthians 15:24-25,28 NIV)

I remember my pastor teaching on this passage many years ago saying that Christ would become like one of us in the kingdom by surrendering his singular authority and status to become like one of us in the kingdom. Which makes sense when you consider that the scriptures teach that we will rule and reign with him in the kingdom. IOW, there will be no Christ the way we know him today. So, in answer to your question, maybe there is no need for Christ in the future kingdom of God as he is today(?)

IMO Just asking the question 'Is Jesus God" is an insult to the Lord..

Luk_17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

Rom_14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Luk_12:32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

I've felt the same way over the years, but was one day reminded that "Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven..." (Matthew 12:32 NIV).

It seems that what we think of, and how we treat the Holy Spirit is more important than what we think of Jesus personally. I think people question his divinity out of lack of knowledge more than anything else. At least with the Holy Spirit there is no excuse for misunderstanding what he says.
