Is the investment worth it?

I keep seeing ads and references to bitcoin and just have to wonder: is it really worth it to invest in what is termed a "virtual currency?" I suppose as long as the US dollar continues on its current path there may be room for other currency that is basically worthless. But what is the draw.

Anyone here invest in this? Is it paying off?
