Where is your mind? Are you concentrating on the cares of this world? I know this is a big election year here in America. Is that overshadowing your reason for living? It seems like many American’s make politics the reason they live with great sacrifice to their purpose and destiny. Other things get in the way also, like paying the bills, raising kids, and other cares of the world keep us from accomplishing the task we were put here to do

The Bible says, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing you’re your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2

We can learn much from this passage. Here are just of few things that I came up with.

1. Stop being conformed to this evil age. We think we live in a world where it is particularly evil, but it has always been evil in some fashion. But don’t be conformed to it. Don’t allow all the “stuff” that is going on in this world to cloud the thing that Jesus put you on earth to do in the first place. Yes, in the election year there’s going to be a lot of evil things said, but don’t let that shape your life, let God and your calling shape it.

2. Let your mind be transformed. Transformation means a total change from the inside out. It means a spiritual renewal. It means thinking completely different from everyone else. To me it means not allowing the cares of this world to interfere in the thing that the Lord has for you because the last part of this verse says, “that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2)

3. Know the perfect will of God for your life. It means to know why you are here and be totally dedicated to it. The perfect will of God is about being obedient to the commandments like loving your neighbor, helping each other, and serving others. It means having selfless dedication to the will of God and the reason you were put here in the first place.

So many allow the cares of this world to interfere with the perfect will of God for their lives. It’s so easy right now to do that. The shooting of five police officers in Dallas is still heavy on everyone’s mind. This unconscionable act and others acts by the police can take your mind off your purpose and destiny. It is very easy to allow that to happen. Instead of trusting God for our finances while we build our destiny we go out and get a job. Instead of trusting God for our provision while we do the thing He put us here to do we try and do it all ourselves and screw it all up. Put your trust in Him and He will be your guide.

Dear sister, some time ago I wrote the following reply to another such post I hope will help in what you're saying.

1Jn 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (This is Christians.)
And then in Rom 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us (Not by us), who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

I relate this to the battle of the habit and dominion of sin as we grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord. There are different stages to coming into the perfect will of God, and overcoming the lusts associated with our flesh is a major part of it.
1Jn 2:13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.

This comes as we read of three stages of the will of God below associated with our different stages of growth in Christ Jesus.
Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is thatgood, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

It's definitely always a battle not to get distracted by the world. Even good things that we think will help us can distract us. It will be a battle until the day we die or Jesus comes.
