It is he that sits upon the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are as grasshoppers; that stretches out the heavens as a curtain, and spreads them out as a tent to dwell in:


I came across this verse recently and noticed the underlined section. I just found it very interesting that the writer implies the earth is a circle (round), since at the time this was written the earth was considered to be flat. I love when I come across verses like this that are so fascinating! :study

Are there any other verses in the Bible that imply the Earth is round?

I am unsure what version of the Bible is prohibited on this site, so I would also like to know that for future reference. I could not find it tonight, but I saw it somewhere the other evening. (Thanks).
 
Not based on a scripture the earth was considered to be flat, but based on history of when the earth was discovered to be round. I just found it fascinating that the Bible had a verse implying the world was round before "man" discovered it to be round.

Adding: Otherwise man would have always known the earth was round and it would have never been questioned. Would they?

It is amazing it is in the Bible, yet men considered it flat for so many years!

god is describing the earth from his view in heaving(as if one is in orbit).

common sense.it was the greeks not the jews who thought the earth was flat.

So can man's head be such. right??:sad (even Empty)
But note the Rom. 2:14-15 ones even finding God/Christ through His NATURE! (+ a flate one, hey?;))

god meets us where we are at. does god have a language, surely he can communicate in all languages. he was trying to tell men that he is above the earth and this is what it looks like.

try not to overead the bible , simply take it as it written. its not hard.
