The context would be the entire chapter 23 of Matthew. (Please read it along with my response)
In that chapter, Jesus excoriates the scribes and pharisees for their hypocrisy.
They loved to be called "father" and "teacher". Jesus was saying not to support
or imitate (edit) their hypocrisy and oppression of the people and don't suck up to them by calling them "rabbi" (teacher) and "father" because they are frauds.
Don't call frauds "father" and "teacher."
Otherwise, we couldn't address our male parent as "father", "daddy", "dad", "papa", "pop", or any word which is substituted for "father."
And the same is true of the word teacher which Jesus also says not to call any one in that passage. So, "teacher", "professor", "instructor", etc would all be banned.
