Itchy Red Rashes

Scratching a red rash like area only makes it worse. These links may help you figure out what's going on since there isn't a picture of your rash here. The first link has corresponding pictures of a particular rash and then gives possible causes, treatments, etc...

Red, Itchy Rash?
Get the Skinny on Dermatitis

I can't really seem to figure it out. I'm not sure whether or not it's dry skin or I take too long of hot showers but lately I have redness all over my skin and I have been itching all over my body. Any ideas?

Lots of good advice, but if you get rashes and did not before, you have to play detective. Something changed. First of all, was this somewhat sudden or gradual? (your OP seems to indicate sudden). From there, determine when about this happened on a calendar and ask yourself what changed since then? Clues: diet, something new; something less, medications, new exposures to the skin, animals, maybe something else happened, say, an unusual smell in your water that you did not have before? How about a medical change of seemingly something ELSE (such as an infection)? Was there any other "event" (even if it seems unrelated) that occurred? To you or your environment? A lot of medical diagnosis is really detective work. Take time to think this out. It's the same principle as when you lose something you "retrace your steps" remembering when was the last time you had what you lost (or in this case, everything was normal). I'll bet the chances are in your favor you may find something or at least narrow down what it is not.

Thanks again guys! :hug I told my mom all of your ideas and she thinks for now I should just put moisturizing cream on it and then we will go from there because it might just be a case of dry skin made worse by the long showers that I take.

Just a late hint, but some medications cause these side affects.
A family member of mine was on some med that made her skin so dry she had "dandruff" all over her body.
Anyway, you are itching, but it could be medication related, if you have any prescriptions drugs you are taking, or recently took.
