I am all for outlawing bullying.

(CNN) -- I got involved in the conversation about bullying after a young Central Florida girl, Rebecca Sedwick, leapt to her death from a water tower in an abandoned industrial plant on September 9, 2013. She had been aggressively bullied by other girls. After one of the girls commented about the suicide on Facebook -- essentially admitting to the bullying and showing no remorse -- Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd arrested the girl. The charges were soon dropped, however, as bullying is not a crime.
In my practice of family law and criminal defense, I know firsthand that while bullying may not be a crime, it can have devastating effects on young victims.
I've seen bullying victims' grades sharply decline. I've seen victims have to change their class schedules -- or change schools completely -- because a school was unable or unwilling to address the behavior of the bully. And, of course, there have been suicides.
Bullying is not name calling. It's not a little harmless schoolyard razzing. Bullying is the systematic harassment of an individual with the intent to cause substantial emotional distress.
The important elements here are "systematic harassment" and "substantial emotional distress." It can include social ostracism, "slut-shaming," extortion, sexual extortion, and more

that might be fine if there was any benefit from government getting involved. look what has happened the last 100 years every time the government got involved and you will change your mind.

get people back to prayer and seeking truth would work, if people will. in places where they do, (like lutheran schools) it works ---- no metal detectors, no police or armed guards, only one school teacher watching over 60 students and it's peaceful, fun, and safe for them all.

no, more government will just make it much worse, at least if the past is any indicator; (and there's nothing to show an improvement in government the last several decades!)

When my son was in 7th grade he was approached by a bully.His guy proceeded to torment my son.The kid told my son that he knew where he lived and that if he ever told anyone what he was doing to him he would kill his parents and his sister.What did my son do?He went to the principal.My son did not see the kid again.

good. the system set up a long time ago worked. every time new laws get passed recently makes it worse and costs way more money.
stick with what has worked for centuries, or decades at least.

get prayer and bible reading back in family life and in schools. use the discipline like you posted that's already in place.

Hold the parents responsible until their children reach the age of 18, if a bullied child commits sideways charge the parent/parents of the bully with second degree manslaughter, that should wake some of these wanna be parents up..

I think that mentally ill and anti-psychotic drugs is a whole different ball game compared to bullying.The government?I don't know.I would have to know their agenda.

Christ came to set His people free from the system of sin and guilt and the world and more. The world system is evil and corrupt, as indicated from Genesis through Revelation.
the 'government' for salvation is Christ Jesus under Yhwh. He even says a few places NOT to study the governments of other countries as if to follow them or do as they do - that is sin He says in many places. Even seeking a king was bad for Israel, because they rejected Yhwh as their King. the same is still true today - Yhwh is King, or the world or something else is King.

This is so rare, to see a people with Yhwh as King, living His Way in Christ Jesus, how is anyone to repent and return to Yhwh ? (in Christ Jesus the Savior).
There is so almost no one training or teaching the truth, how is anyone to know ? but this is still no excuse (the lack of good teaching). Seek Yhwh while He may be found, and do what He says. It is the only way to be free of the world, sin, death, and satan.

When daughter was in 7th grade, she was harassed daily, both physically and psychologically, by the other girls in her class. We live in a majority black community, the school system is 95% black, and our daughter was the only white girl in class. We complained several times to the teacher and principal, and was told that they sympathized with us but that there was nothing they could do. We pulled our daughter from the school system and enrolled her in a Quaker boarding school near Philadelphia, the school my wife had attended during her high school years.

This is not a broad charge of racism, but a way of admitting that groups of kids can be very cruel. My son had gone to the same public school, being in the same minority status, had no problems at all. My son's class was very good in this respect and my daughter's class very bad, a situation the administration admitted.

I agree Angel.There is alot of judgment on those who are mentally ill.It is the ones who are responsible about taking their medications who they will have less problems with because they are stable.It is the ones who go off of their meds or do not take it at all who are the most dangerous.

every one was by someone previously put on medicine affecting the thinking/emotions/etc......

No assumption. It is the record.

That does not mean that it will always happen that way - that mental meds will always make a shooter, no. Not even more often than not.

But there is enough evidence out there for anyone who wants to avoid the drugs and is able to , they usually get better results. (regardless of any tendency to shoot or not - the natural God provided way is always more peaceful and more healthy).

study , in line with scripture for 20 years, instead of in line with corrupt society for the last 200 years (the spin of medicine today).
you will be relieved and joyful and relaxed and surprised, and totally furious at satan for decieving mankind so badly so long.

study, search, pray, test everything; you are not alone in wanting health, mental and physical and spiritual(in reverse this order)..

if you want real health, in line with Scripture, you will find things a lot different than you were taught all your life, no matter who taught you.

it will be a challenge, probably a lifetime challenge, not just a couple weeks or a little looking for a few weeks or even years.

the truth is simple. in line with Yhwh's Word. in line with Yhwh's Plan. always in Yeshua, peaceful, joyful and righteous.

also, read the four gospels again, all four, in the next four to eight weeks(it doesn't really take that long, but read prayerfully as you are able to.)

see what Jesus does . what Jesus does is the same today as then. (and men still hate Him, and hate His followers too.)

People don't commit crimes because they're mentally ill. The commit crimes because they are EVIL!

The stigma that goes along with mental illness started a long long time before the shootings started.

The common point in focus is not that the shooters were mentally ill.
(side note: they didn't even have to be mentally ill to be put on the drugs, so maybe they weren't all mentally ill.)
but they were all previously given mind altering drugs)

Actually , that really isn't the point either --- address all things, everything, every day, to Yhwh in prayer, and if His people will start turning to Him every day and listening to Him, miraculous things will occur. (as they have in the past, and even in recent times).

To address things from man's way though, is doomed. To handle bullying or crime or sickness or economy contrary to Yhwh's Way is doomed.

Yeshua came so we could address things His Way Again. To let us have a way to see and know and do what He wants, and to be able to cast totally all of our cares upon Him. Every aspect of our lives is known to Him, and He cares for us in Christ Jesus. He is not looking the other way or ignoring us when we call on Him with a pure heart and a cry of desperation for His deliverance. He has already provided through His Son all that is needed for this LIFE and the LIFE to come. Mankind just doesn't get it.

And are they supposed to? My gripe is the Church of God is supposedly enlightened and still don't, either. Do they know him when they see him?
