Matthew 25:1-13 King James Version (KJV)

25 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:

4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.

9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

Five of the virgins were religious, they thought they were saved. Millions presently are in the Church, but not in Christ.

My question is about vs. 3 & 4, how does the Believer receive a constant flow of the Spirit within our hearts and lives daily so we will remain wise and not become foolish? Question about vs. 5, did they have ears that didn't hear, eyes that could not see, and no more understanding (Romans 11:8)?

Perhaps we do the opposite of what you are doing here? Maybe we look at ourselves instead of looking at others? I really dunno.

Daily prayer and reading of scripture.
Also, "Pray without ceasing." ( 1Th 5:17)
That can be achieved by using the "Jesus Prayer" (Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me the sinner.) which can be recited over and over whenever you are not occupied with something that prevents you doing so (like reading or listening to a lecture and taking notes).
You can recite it in your head while driving or shopping or walking or when you lie down to sleep.
And you can shorten it to "Lord Jesus have mercy" or "Lord Jesus" or even just "Jesus."

Give it a try. It will take your focus off the trivial things of the world (like the news) and focus you on the person of Jesus Christ.

You will find your answer in John 3:3-7; Romans 10:9, 10; Matthew 7:21-29 and John 7:38, 39.

If one is not Spiritually born again they can not see the kingdom of God for they have not His Holy Spirit dwelling in them and walk not in obedience to His commands. If one is not prepared as the Bride of Christ when the Groom returns they have no place with Him.

Prayers are not to be repetitious, but spoken from the heart as God already knows your need before you even ask. Jesus gave us a manner of how to prayer, Matthew 6:7-15. It doesn't matter where we are or what we are doing as we can always talk to Christ.

More precisely, that would be; "Unless one is born of water and of Spirit..."
That's what Jesus said. (Jn 3:5)

John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

1 John 5:
5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

If you compare John 3:5 with 1 John 5:5-8 water means word as in the word being the living water (John 4:10,11) as in the Father, the word (living water) and the Holy Spirit.
The three that bear witness is Holy Spirit, Gods living word, and the blood of Jesus who made atonement for sin that we can be reconciled back to the Father.

Everything from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21 is all Gods word and Holy Spirit dwelling in or falling on and come to Earth in the form of a man in Christ Jesus. It's all Gods grace freely given to all who will believe in that faith that is Christ Jesus as he spoke Gods word (living water) through Gods Spirit that dwelled in Christ and given to all to know Gods word (John 14:26) after ascending to sit at Gods right side as our intercessor before the Father.

It's Gods word that we are made righteous through Him, sanctified, justified and made Holy before Him. No dirty river water can save us, but is only an outward appearance to others that we have been washed clean (made righteous before God) by the blood of the Lamb and the renewing through the Holy Spirit.

As I understand the scriptures and as I have experienced these past twenty-eight years the conditional answer is yes, that is true. The condition being as long as we quench not the Spirit. (1 Thes 5:19)

Question about vs. 5, did they have ears that didn't hear,
eyes that could not see, and no more understanding (Romans 11:8)?

That is my understanding. According to a survey taken by the Barna Group in the mid-eighties a little less than two percent of the Cross Denominational American Church are saved and i believe that is because they have closed their Spiritual Eyes and Ears.

When Jesus prayed in the garden, He prayed "the same words" three times. (Mat 26:44)
And there is no reason that those words cannot be "from the heart."

I have no idea why Jesus prayed that three times as I could not speculate on that. All I know is that Jesus told us not to be repetitious in our prayers.

Why would Jesus tell you not to be repetitious in your prayers when He was repetitious in His prayers?
Are we not to imitate Christ? (1Co 11:1)

Or, are the "vain repetitions" which "the heathen" do (Mat 6:7) a reference to the incantations which the pagan priests use when they pray to their false gods?

If we are not to repeat prayers then, having said the "Lord's Prayer" once, should we never say it again? That would be repetition.

But, you do as you like.

Enjoy

You brought it up in post #5 and I only replied so I will let it alone as to not derail this thread.
I never said anything about any dirty river.

However, the scriptures do have quite a bit to say about baptism (preferably in clean water.)

Mat 28:18:-20a And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefor and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you;…

John 3:5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God

Acts 3:38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 22:16 And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

Rom 6:3-6 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.

Gal 3:27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Col 2:11-14 In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

Tit 3:4-5 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,

Heb 10:22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

1Pet 3:21 There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

But you do whatever pleases you and what is good in your sight. :)

I know what Baptism is and only made reference to dirty river water that does not save us, which is usually where many are dunked in. You can start a thread on this if you want as I don't want to get off topic from the OP.

they was not saved romans 8: . 9 But ye are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you. But " if any man hath not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his ." 10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwelleth in you, he that raised up Christ Jesus from the dead shall give life also to your mortal bodies [e]through his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

ok i ask probably shouldnt but out of curiosity what does dirty river water have to do with baptism ?
