Bible Study James 4:7

I think I haven't posted on this thread anything clever before so I decided to post a thread of this verse.

James 4:7 which says "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." I wrote this down because it's a powerful verse.

Temptations are work of satan but when we overcome the temptations, we become much stronger in the name of Lord. When devil realizes that only the temptations grows you in faith, he must flee from you otherwise he would help you in growing. Any sense? :)

Clever? Right on! That does make sense. It's like when the devil tempted Jesus in the wilderness, after Jesus resisted him with Scripture, he decided to flee. Yep!! resist the devil and he will pack up!

Hey im learning :) i might stay in bible study for a while to learn more

That's good. Your thread is a dynamite one. I am very interested in what folk will post. This topic of resisting the devil is so very important to the health of our mind. So many folk are being oppressed by the evil one in their minds and thought life.

Light and darkness cannot occupy the same space. When we resist the temptations of darkness we are inviting Light into our space. When confronted with Light the darkness flees.

It's like walking into a pitch black room and turning on the light. The second the light appears, the darkness is gone.

That's what happens when the devil is confronted by the Spirit of God. He has no alternative but to flee.

Satan will always be at the backdoor trying to get in and only can if we allow him to. Temptations always surround us and as enticing, but yet deceiving as they are, it's up to us to refuse them. Ours now is a Spiritual world that we live in as we submit to that of Gods will and not our own. There is no fence riding when it comes to God. Either you are for Him or against Him.

James 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
James 1:3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
James 1:4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
James 1:6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
James 1:7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
James 1:8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
James 1:9 Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:
James 1:10 But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.
James 1:11 For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.
James 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
James 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
James 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
James 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

Chopper you crack me up!!!......... My name is Debbie not Steve. Steve is my husband. We are not associated with any particular Church at this time. I found Our Church.com on the web and used it to build my website as they offer all the tools you need to build one. It's free unless you want to publish it in the many different search engines. Like it says in my homepage, I'm just a servant of God who loves teaching His word. I've been teaching for 14 years now mostly in forums like this plus sending the classes I teach to two Ministries in Africa and India that I am involved with. I was involved teaching in the local Prison Ministry for a few years through a Church we use to attend, but has since closed down. Steve is like the silent partner as he is not much of a speaker, but supports me with whatever I do for the Lord.
