Japanese Thread!

I don't have my Japanese book. Care to teach me the translation? How do you say friend in Japanese?

I just asked you how you are today (informally).

Friend is "tomodachi".

She might not know what the word "kiai" means.

I was just playing around. I don't know what kiai means.

in short harmonizing your center of energy. it wont always have the yell, a true kiai wont even be loud. just a deep breathe. I broke more boards that way or in sparring hit harder. sometimes kata worked into my side kicks.

Oh ok! No disrespect. :) martial arts are pretty awesome.

Konnichi wa Kevin-san. Watashi tomodachi!

Hello Kevin, my friend.

Is my grammar correct? I'm totally guessing lol

The culture ,I wonder if you see it as a bit different.

A rant of mine while fixing Japanese cars, one must understand Kata to fix car.they have a different approach.

Pretty close! You just need the possessive marker "no" between watashi and tomodachi. Watashi no tomodachi, "my friend".

You can also say it this way: "Konnichiwa, tomodachi no Kevin-san". Not more correct, just a different way of saying it. "Hello, my friend Kevin".

When I first saw the initial post, "Japanese Thread", I thought this was going to be a discussion on how to make kimonos.

What a great thread. My next trip planned for a holiday is Japan in June/July. Maybe I can upgrade my japanese skills here as i only know konichiwa.

When i go Japan the two main thing I want to do is learn from japanese master how to slice and make a good sushimi as im fisherman, and also the other is traditional tea ceremony for a cultural experience.

Oh wow, congratulations! Is this your first visit? Do you know what areas you are going to see?

Let us know if there's any language help we can give you. Angel-san and I are practically experts.

also the other is traditional tea ceremony for a cultural experience.
I actually did participate in a cha-no-yu ceremony once. I don't actually know much about Chadō (the Way of Tea), but it was very auspicious and delicious.

Apart from learning how to slice and make good sashimi, and having a traditional tea ceremony, i would also like to know good words so i can impress Japanese women. :biggrin2
Oh dang, you chose the one subject I know even less than the Tea Ceremony. :lol

If i learn to slice perfect sashimi, and master the tea ceremony, I might just have some impressive Kiwi style.

Ok a haircut and a shave might also help. :lol
