Jesus Christ last words on the cross fulfills Isaiah 55:11
As Jesus hung on the cross he spoke his last words.....
Luke 23:46 New International Version (NIV)
46 Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last.
And now look at this verse .......
Isaiah 55:11 New International Version (NIV)
11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
It must be emphasized that since Jesus is the WORD (John 1:1 and John 1:14) the passage in Isaiah 55:11 is describing God's son Jesus Christ mission here on earth and his last act on the cross.
God the Father had sent his son to redeem his fallen creation which is stated in the first sentence of Isaiah 55:11- "so is my word (hint: Jesus Christ) that goes out from my mouth".
And then after all has been fulfilled by God's son Jesus Christ and Jesus hangs on the cross near death the verse continues - " It (hint: God's word in the person of Jesus Christ) will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."
Which is why Jesus's last words HAD to be "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit" (Psalm 31:5) to fulfill Isaiah 55:11. Jesus Christ's spirit represents God's word returning to him after it had accomplished what God desired and achieved the purpose for which God had sent it.
If Jesus had ever acted on his own it would have invalidated Isaiah 55:11 and all would have been lost! Jesus must return God's own words back to him. Meaning, that Jesus must fulfill everything in the bible exactly and add nothing of his own. This was a herculean feat that only God's son Jesus Christ could achieve. Which he did!
Imagine Satan who knew of this verse and that God's son Jesus Christ was God the Father's word that had gone out to do his will and MUST return to God intact, fulfilled, and unchanged. God the Father had thrown down the gauntlet to Satan that his son SHALL achieve his desire to redeem his fallen creation. For which Jesus Christ did indeed achieve on the cross!
Satan knew that Jesus MUST return to God the Father or else God's word would be proven false. Satan thought that by killing Christ this would prevent Jesus from returning to God the Father. But of course this proved to be a fallacy for Satan. For Christ's spirit went back to God the Father first, then Christ's body.
It must be noted that Jesus Christ's resurrected body is evidence that God's word returned to him after it had accomplished what God desired and achieved the purpose for which God had sent it.
Believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and you'll be included in having God's word returned to him by having all the believers in Jesus Christ wrapped in Christ's loving embrace!
God Bless
