Bible Study John 11

For those who cannot recall this by the numbers (I know I can't) this is the story of Lazarus.

What I noticed today is the attitudes of Jesus' closest followers.

The apostles didn't want to go because of the threat of stoning despite what Jesus said.

Thomas decided to go and die with Jesus.

Martha believed in a future resurrection... One day.

Mary was mad at Jesus.

The crowd said that if Jesus had hurried he could have been there in time to save Lazarus...but its too late now.

No one really understood verse 25. (I am the resurrection)

Sigh...

I know I've been every one of these characters.
*sigh*

I don't think anyone, especially those who walked with Jesus, could/can understand the resurrection until their Spiritual eyes are opened to understand what Jesus was saying to them/us. Could we comprehend the gospel of Christ if we were not given the Holy Spirit to teach and give us understanding, I doubt it as I know I didn't understand at first. I accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior because I knew I had to in order to go to heaven, but never truly knew Jesus until I started having that personal relationship with Him.

For those who cannot recall this by the numbers (I know I can't) this is the story of Lazarus.
You missed Lazarus himself, who remained silent. At least we have no words of Lazarus recorded for us. It would appear that the Lord did not want to have him say anything about where he had been and how profound the resurrection experience was for him. In fact none of those who were raised from the dead are recorded as having said anything after their resurrections. Something to think about.

"It's because you're not thinking 4th dimensionally Marty "

Lazarus went no where... Except four days later.
It's really hard to get this concept. But think of it as time travel... Just on your feet. IOW moving through time like you would across the room.

Lazarus went nowhere...
John, when a saint died before the resurrection of Christ, his soul and spirit went to "Abraham's bosom" (the place of the departed righteous dead). That is where Lazarus (a believer) was until he was resurrected. His body was in the tomb, but not his soul and spirit. When Christ said "Lazarus, come forth", his soul and spirit were immediately reunited with his body. Christ had pronounced him dead, and waited four day (almost the point of decomposition) before He resurrected him. This was a very powerful miracle to prove that Christ is indeed the Resurrection and the Life.
