This is the work of God - that you believe in Him whom He hath sent.

Believe and faith are from the root-word PISTIS

This should sink all the caterwauling that
“Faith is not a work”

How come Jesus lists tasks that requires effort when he separated the sheep from the goats? How come he didn’t just tell the goats they didn’t believe and reward the sheep for what they THOUGHT?

How come it says we will stand and give an account for the DEEDS done while in the body and not the thoughts alone examined?

I dunno. Like for adultery -even THINKING the wrong way has made one commit adultery in one’s heart

It starts in the heart. My point is your OP choosing one verse thinking you’ve eliminated the obligation to be keeping his commands from the christian life is incorrect. Jesus said over and over we need to keep his teaching not merely have the “right” thoughts.

Thats right, so that proves that mind action is a work. Adultery is a work of the flesh Gal 5:19

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

So believing faith is a mind work !
