Just a general question concerning membership

I was off this site for a while and it seems that there's been a hit to the membership rolls. I'm seeing just over 900 members and I thought there were many more than that when I was here before. Anyone else have anything on the numbers?

Not really sure what you mean. Are you talking about all-time membership numbers or viewer numbers?

oops sorry. I'm glad I asked. I was looking at the 'total members' but I guess that's just online. The one under the list of names and such.

I was just noting how few people were online and saw that total members and thought it was total site membership. And yes, I remembered there being several thousand the last time I had checked. Which was quite a while back. Thanks for getting back to me.

Must have been some kind of brain aneurism. I see now that it's total members online broken down by member and guest. Why do we have so many more guests than members? Isn't that odd?

I truly don't know, and sometimes I wonder myself. We tend to get a lot of newer members (i.e viewing and then joining) from oversees, and I also noticed that viewership has tended to be higher overnight. Maybe we have a lot of readers on the other side of the world who are more just into looking things over than interacting.

I'm curious about viewer numbers in the past, though, cuz I only recently started paying attention. You say viewer numbers were higher in the past than more recently?

Well, that's because I was misunderstanding the 'total members' box at the bottom of the list of 'who is online'. It 's all good now. I had seen that 900+ 'total members' and I remembered there being like 10,000 and that's what it still is. So, I wrongly understood that the site had lost 9,000 members for some reason and that's what I was asking about. But it's one me. We're good.

Many that have become members through the years are no longer here, but their names still appear in the members list as there is no way for anyone to delete their member ship. They just up and leave and the names remain.
