Just a thread in which to argue?

Shouldn't we have a category JUST for those that are contentious and want to argue? Perhaps if we did, some of the other threads where serious discussion is attempted could be free of such.
 
It would seem logical, but I see people arguing no matter what. :-? It is a bit sad, really.
 
I'm afraid I don't see the difference between argue and discuss, so long as civility is maintained. It is rather easy to look at something and have a different view than someone else and have it be just as apt. But, perhaps I'm not reading the same threads as you are, though, and as such don't see this as a large issue.
 
I actually don't see as much arguing on this site as I do some others that I lurk on.

The thing is that religion is one of the topics that people feel strongest about. It is also, along with politics, one of the few topics that people are less apt to change their stance on.

So while people feel strong about their opinion and want to discuss it, their emotions many times show through and things can get out of control.

But as I said, there is much less arguing on this site compared to others. No matter what the topic there will be opposing views and always debates, so it is pointless to have a section soley for "arguing".

Speaking of Christians, where are they? :crying:

6 - No Bashing of other members. Give other members the respect you would want them to give yourself.

That is not up for debate.

You mean you can tell somone they are wrong, decieved, whitewashed tombs, going to hell, their father is the the devil - and remain civil? :wink:

What ya want to argue about Imagican? My father's better than your father? Oh hang on a minute - we've got the same father. Let's pick on someone elses father.

If Christians believed Jesus when he said we have one teacher and that is the Christ, then there would be no arguing. Paul tells us the same thing.

But paul also tells us; "No doubt there have to be differences among you show who is approved by God." Those who agree withe God are approved by God and those who disagree with him are not.

But unfortunately, even people who replace the bible with their own made-up gospels also think they are approved by God no matter how much they contradict scripture. I have no idea where they get the notion they are approved by God except that they simply want to believe it. Sorry, but the bible tells us how to recognize those who call Jesus Lord & will not enter the kingdom of heaven from those who will enter it. All one has to do is believe God's Word and he will know the truth. But sadly, most do not.
