Justification

What is justification? A popular Christian term! Usually one of our pastors would ask you to define justification if you are an interviewee (looking for a job opportunity with the ministry)...if you ever told him you are born-again.

Romans 5.1 is important.

It refers to a completed action of justification by faith, not the idea of some ongoing process, which would really refer to sanctification.

.
The ancient Greek word translated "justification" is ambiguous; which Webster's defines as: capable of being understood in two or more possible senses or ways.

Because of the ambiguity of dikaioo (dik-ah-yo'-o), people discussing justification among themselves oftentimes end up with one guy talking about apples and the other guy talking about oranges. For example: the meaning of dikaioo in Paul's letter to the Romans is very different than the meaning of dikaioo in James' letter to the twelve tribes scattered abroad. Bible students unaware of the difference usually end up either favoring one writer over the other; or else come to the conclusion that James and Paul cancel each other.
