Hello Every One,
I thought it would be cool to see how every one viewed this topic. So I am asking if you would please answer these few questions in a reply please.
Thank You and Have a very Blessed 2015

1..What are the keys of the Kingdom ?
2..What are they meant for ? OR What do you do with them ?
3..If you believe they truly unlock something then what and how do you do so ?

Forgiveness is the key that unlocks the doors to the kingdom.

I'll take a stab by saying the keys refer to an introduction of people into the body through gospel preaching and as Peter was given the keys, it was unique for him because he was the first to preach to both the Jews and the Gentiles. What the keys open, as Jethro has pointed out, a door and that door is Christ into the Kingdom of God. Along with forgiveness unlocking the door, I believe it is also the knowledge we receive as God draws us to Himself and opens up our eyes and ears to receive the gospel Truths.

I think there must be more to my attempted definition, because "keys" is plural, we are not all called to be preachers, and Jesus possesses the keys, too? The more I ponder this, the more questions I have. :)

I'm really looking forward to hearing what others have to say. Thanks for the thread, Jim!

For the power to open?

Seems to me.. the keys are the knowledge (from God) that Jesus is Thee Christ ...
Knowledge by itself? I don't see that.

The keys of the kingdom is linked to the power to bind and loose, and the power to bind and loose is in turn linked to the forgiveness of sin:

18 "I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it.
19 "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever * you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever * you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven." (Matthew 16:18-19 NASB)

15 "If your brother sins, go and show him his fault in private; if he listens to you, you have won your brother.
16 "But if he does not listen to you, take one or two more with you, so that BY THE MOUTH OF TWO OR THREE WITNESSES EVERY FACT MAY BE CONFIRMED.
17 "If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.
18 "Truly I say to you, whatever * you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever * you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven. (Matthew 18:15-18 NASB)

1) the context is establishing the kingdom.
2) the kingdom is established through the power of binding and loosing.
3) the power to bind and loose is the power to withhold forgiveness/ give forgiveness.

Not mans knowledge ... this kind of knowledge Mat 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven
and the knowledge of this
Mat 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Which in my mind would include knowing Jesus was the fulfillment of the First Testament laws prophesy etc

is that a better explanation?

1) the context is establishing the kingdom.
2) the kingdom is established through the power of binding and loosing.
3) the power to bind and loose is the power to withhold forgiveness/ give forgiveness.

With out forgiveness no kingdom...

Mat 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Mat 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.
Mat 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

Totally agree...Rom_14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

The keys are total understanding and revelation and obedience to the Holy Spirit.

Peter was given this revelation.
Matthew 16:16-17 Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven.

John 21:17-18 The third time he said to him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, "Do you love me? He said, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my sheep. I tell you the truth, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted ; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else (the Holy Spirit) will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go."

Galatians 2:14 When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter in front of them all, "You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How is it, then , that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs?

Peter screwed up and went back to Jewish customs instead of allowing the Holy Spirit to work through him. But, his heart would always take the rebuking and then he would repent and move on in the Holy Spirit.

An excerpt from the study of Matthew – Biography of the King presented by A.S. Copley. http://www.gracegod.com/Study Books/Matthew - Biography of the King.pdf

Apostolic Authority "And I give unto thee the keys of the Kingdom of heaven, and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." He now leaves the subject of the Church and Peter's place in it; going on to speak of the Kingdom of heaven and Peter's place there. These two things are different; yet they are so closely connected that many confound them. We have already noted that the Kingdom of heaven in its mystery form, was to be established in the world, not by any act of divine power or revelation; but by the simple sowing of the Word of God. It is therefore the Kingdom of the truth, a sphere of profession, which may, and does at the present time, include all that confess the name of Christ, tho' it be but outward and nominal, true or false; which only the day of manifestation will declare. But these words, spoken to Peter, clearly prove that the Kingdom is administered by representative men in the absence of the King: for its keys are given into Peter's hands. As his confession of Christ was not that of himself alone, but of all true disciples who thus were built up as living stones in His Church; so here too the application must be to all official disciples. The keys of the Kingdom are in the hands of His servants, tho' Peter uses them first, as representing them all. He opens the door of the Kingdom to the Jew on the day of Pentecost; and to the Gentile in the house of Cornelius some years later. But notice it was Paul and his associates who continued using the latter key, giving further access to the Gentiles. The key had to be used again and again, as is plainly evident. The administration of the Kingdom, which these keys represent, has not yet passed. Men are still opening the door and admitting others into the Kingdom and will continue doing so until the King comes back again and takes out of it all things that offend. We have also a further proof that Peter, at this juncture, is simply a representative man, during these years of Christ's absence. These same words, giving authority to Peter, as to the "binding or loosing of men," is later given to the two or three gathered together in Christ's Name - Chap. 18:18. Peter is not alone in his faith. He is not the only living stone in this Building. Therefore why say that he alone used the keys? In this case we will also be forced to admit that he alone had authority to loose from sin and sickness which we know is not the truth.

I am going to give it one more day and see if any one else wants to chime in and then I will post what this is all about. Thank You Every One for your replies and keep them coming !!

In this post I want to GET something through to many of you who believe that just because a person becomes born again and the scriptures say that all the promises of God are ours that they automatically go into force or action and you are covered and life is good. This is simply NOT TRUE. Everything about God in our lives BEGINS WITH A CHOICE. We have to decide to chose His way and become born again. Everything beyond this point found in the Written Word Of God, first starts with a choice and follows up with an action by us and then by GOD.

When a person believes in Christ and is Born again, they find a new life and safety AND God has given unto every believer Everything they will ever need to live out this Christian life in a victorious and overcoming way. HOWEVER it is the BELIEVERS CHOICE OR RESPONSIBILITY to use the Resources God Provides. Another words we must find the Keys to the Kingdom which are always going to be the promises of God and learn how to use them or unlock the promises of God so as to have them fulfil their purpose by working for you, me or who ever puts them to work.

2Peter1:3 KJV
According to His divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and Godliness, through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to Glory and Virtue

2Peter1:3 NLT
As we know Jesus better, His divine power gives us everything we need for living a Godly life. He has called us to receive His own Glory and Goodness!

2Peter1:4 KJV
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises; that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

2Peter1:4 NLT
And by that same mighty power , He has given us all of His rich and wonderful promises. He has promised that you will escape the decadence all around you caused by evil desires and that you will share in His divine nature.

Now then these next few scriptures also show us what we have been blessed with through Christ as well. I want to show you something that set me free and changed the way I pray. For many years people use the next scripture as the main promise of God to get their needs met or what ever it is they are facing. Within this type of prayer one finds them selves struggling to see this through. Another words it's a struggle to try and get your needs met praying that my God shall meet all of my needs through His riches and glory in Christ Jesus.

Why do I say this ? Because when you are praying along these lines you find your self wondering if God wants me to have this or wants me to get this. You end up trying to convince God of your needs. This is always a struggle and prayers are to be done By Faith. Faith does not wonder or question but simply BELIEVES because it KNOWS.

Philippians 4:19 KJV
But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in Glory by Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:19 NLT
And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from His glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.

Now with the scripture above Philippians 4:19 we see that it says that God will meet all of your need with His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. What do we need or what is our need here? We need His power to over come. We need to live in victory as He has given us the victory already through Christ but we Must Fight The Good Fight Of Faith in order to step over into our Victory. What I am saying is this, God has already given us EVERYTHING we will ever need to fulfil His plan for our life which includes living in victory. SO USE WHAT HE HAS GIVEN US ALREADY AND OVER COME AND TAKE YOUR VICTORY through His Every Promise within in His written word.

Now think about this, you need better health, take your key that unlocks healing and put it into force. God is not going to do this for you. He has already provided your healing and it is up to us to CHOSE to use our key to healing and health.
Oh but my rent is over do and I need 800 dollars by 6 tomorrow or I am on the streets.
No you don't need 800 but you do need to wake up and find out who you are in Christ and what those keys are that He gave you when you were grafted into His family and learn how to use them and USE them. Then you wont find your self stuck praying out of desperate need in a struggle trying to convince God how bad you need this.

God is always Faithful and True to His word. He is always watching for His word to be put into action. His answer to prayer is always yea and amen or YES....now watch this...when you pray according to His will. What is His will ? His every promise in His written word for you. Those keys you tossed aside and forgot about. Check it out....
2Corinthians1:20....
KJV .. For ALL the PROMISES of God in HIM are YEA and in Him Amen, unto the Glory of God by us.
How do I know if it is God's will for me ? Do you have a situation which requires God to fix or see to it that it gets taken care of ? Well does God have a promise in His word that will cover it ? YES God has a promise that will cover EVERYTHING we go through in His written word. So then it is HIS WILL for YOU !! Now Look at the next scripture.

Ephesians 1:3 KJV
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath Blessed us with ALL SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS in Heavenly Places in Christ

Ephesians 1:3 NLT
How we Praise God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with EVERY SPIRITUAL BLESSING in the heavenly realms because we belong to Christ.

What are these Spiritual Blessings ? They are His Every Promise To Us found in His written word. So lets recap this real quick.
Must chose to become Born again and grafted unto His tree. Must chose to renew my mind unto His ways. Must chose to Believe what His written word says. Must chose to act on His written word or promises. Must make the choice to find out who I am in Christ Jesus and what Power and Authority has been Given unto me. Must make the choice to take these keys and unlock His promises and use them or put them to work for us.

Ok one last Point I want to make....Even with all this there is still choices that must be made in order to see this all work for OUR GOOD. WE MUST CHOSE to believe His word is all true and NOT waver or sway with doubts or unbelief and this is done through Faith. Now then Faith must be followed up with Love and Forgiveness. All three here work together and are needed to operate Faith. Now then standing in Faith means you are not moved by what you see or feel. It does not matter for what does the word of God say....That is all that matters. Chose to place Gods word First and Last in every situation.

This is another study or topic but is REQUIRED HERE AS WELL. Words or what you allow to come out of your mouth. These dictate or control your results. When you are standing on Gods word then YOU must ...ohhhh here it is again....Make a CHOICE to speak Gods words TOO. Now again your mind and heart must be renewed unto His written word to grasp this. But any and all doubt words or fear words or unbelief words will hinder your prayers and hinder YOUR FAITH from bringing forth the RESULTS that you need. However here is a tip....if you catch your self then simply rebuke those words and SPEAK GODS WORD OVER IT and change the way you have been thinking.

I can prove this with scripture or show you but this seems long now. So I will show this in another thread......

Dear Brother Fish Catcher Jim, are you saying that if I have a perceived need, and go to God with it, that becomes God’s will? Then all I then have to do is have the faith to receive it, and to do that I must speak it? I don’t say this frivolously because I know of a national figure I won’t mention that preaches that.

The very words written are the following excerpt:
“- I have authority in my office, but if I want someone to stop doing something, I can’t just think a thought to make them stop, I have to open my mouth and speak. The same thing is true in the spiritual realm. As Christians, we have authority over the enemy. But if we want him to stop doing something, we have to open our mouth and speak the Word.
- He (God) wants us to believe His Word and speak it out to Him in prayer.”
Blessings in Christ Jesus. :wave2

I thought Jesus was doing that first on every Sabbath. and they rejected what he taught and stayed under the old law.

Never said that Brother. I said if we have a need God has a promise covering it. I am a tad confused why you are talking about this just thinking compared to saying. Never said anything like that. Help me see where you are refering to. Thanks Brother...:wave2

How do you get this from what I wrote. WE are talking about using the promises of Gods word for what they were meant to do....Fill a need.
Hi Jim,
I wasn't sure so instead of jumping to conclusions, I thought it wise to ask.

The reasoning behind my inquiry was due to your statements about speaking out our desires and believing that which is spoken out will come about. It sounded similar to name it, claim it, so I asked

Hi Abigail,
Speaking the word of God over a situation brings results. Faith in what we are saying is needed. We can not say by the stripes Jesus bore I am healed and then start allowing our words to speak doubt and stuff like, i sure hope he does and this thing is never going to get better etc. Doubt and fear which is twisted faith will limit your faith and results. This has nothing to do with name it claim it. It hass to do with His word and using it.

Abigail if this does not make sense then copy the part that you are refering to for me.
Blessings
Jim
