Bible Study Knowing God As Father 2

Soul man

Member
Paul starts his epistles with "Grace and peace from God our father, and from the lord Jesus Christ."
From this, I glean, grace and peace come from knowing God as father. It is my understanding that believers that know God as the omnipresent, or even omnipotent God of all creation, never fully come to grace and peace. There are many attributes and metaphors that describe God, but none as unique as that of fatherhood.
Matt. 11:27,
27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.
These truths come by the revelation of the Christ within the believer.
The believer will never know who he/she is aside from knowing who Christ is, and who His Father is.
John 4:23,
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
True worshippers shall worship the Father. The Christ in you has an identity, and it is with the Father, the Father planted His seed in you as your only life, Gal. 2:20.

The words "I will never leave you" spoken by men have very little meaning, but when you hear your Father say "I will never leave you nor forsake you" there not just words. Oh the joy of knowing God as Father.
He did not say "as you perfect this religious thing" or "as you pay all your tithes right."
There are no prerequisites with your Father, He has either birthed you or He hasn't.
That is the good news, and it is religion that has turned it around to mean something totally opposite of what is written.
Thank God for His word, men can say and believe anything, but we have a written record that I suggest you read, stay before the lord, and wait on Him for yourself.
There are many voices today, there is still just "one still small voice."

Yes, just one still small voice, not two. Did you ever think of this, that " God " is not a name, but rather a job description?
No more than King David, King, being Davids job description, and David being his name. God took on a new name from all those names He called Himself in the OT.
He created a body for Himself to abide. That was Jesus, the Immanuel ( God with us ). And God, has that Name above every name that is named in heaven and earth and even under the earth. Jesus.
1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

Hi Soul man, Only small to those who try to block it out, But unto the Sons it is the only voice and a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. (Psalms 119:105) Do you notice how the Father's voice always draws us away from the thorny and briary paths? Where the flesh might walk headlong down that path, The Father draws us strongly away. (At least that is how He has done with me) (John 10:1-27) He is the only Father I have ever known, my earthly father passed before I was old enough to know him.

ust a thought for those that are " maturing " in Christ Jesus

Excuse me? God took on a new name? The name for El was never God, only in the Western mind set and in English Bibles. So, you're going to split up the Divine Counsel all by yourself huh? There always will be El, the Abba Father, Yahweh, Yahshua ha` Mashiah our Savior, and Ruah ha` Qodesh, Holy Spirit.

They never change Brother.

He, Jesus, is all there is. He is the All, in All. He is the Father, the Brother, the Friend, the Holy Spirit, the Daddy, the Advocate, the Good Shepherd, the High Tower, the lamb, the dove, the bullock, the Lion, the Eagle, the Savior, the Healer, the Provider, the Protector, the Teacher, the Righteousness, the Justifier, and on and on..
Rev 3: 12 He that overcometh, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go out thence no more: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God, and mine own new name.

Sorry, I don't buy your "Jesus only" theology. Jesus is not the Father, or the Holy Spirit.

Chopper maybe I can explain this anomaly to you the best way I can. When a person is young and learning their numbers, they were taught with either blocks, or apples, or some such thing. They learned to count using devices of some sort. As they grew a little older they used their fingers, some still do even as adults. But the thing is at some point they go from using blocks, finger, and just come to KNOW 3 x 10 + 30, 10+34=44.. This is a transition that all make at some point when looking at the trinity. It is and was absolutely needed to understand the relationship of God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit, as He walked in the flesh. But upon His resurrection there comes a " transition" in understanding, or should have, that He is the All in All.
John knew Jesus quite well, and loved Him dearly. But on the Isle of Patmos, he didn't recognize the risen Christ..!!!

John 1: 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Who was the Word, Jesus right? And the Word was God!

Revelation 3:5 "He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
3:6 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the assemblies."

17:1 These words spoke Yahshua, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; esteem thy Son, that thy Son also may esteem thee:
17:2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true Elohim, and Yahshua the Messiah, whom thou hast sent.
7:4 I have esteemed thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

14:11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.

14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

These Scriptures are ample proof that there are three in heaven earth. Do you read the Scriptures? I don't understand why you don't see a lot more proof verses than I posted.

I guess if they have trouble with the whole new name thing, they will most certainly stumble at the creation of a New Spirit. For the Lord said you shall no longer call me Baali, but you shall call me..........

Chopper let me make this absolutely clear, and for anyone who wants to jump in on our conversation. I believe the Trinity is essential to ones understanding of how they can relate to the Father, to the Lord, and be led of the Spirit.. The trinity is part and parcel or our begining to understand how it all works. I have found numerous scriptures that attest to the fact that the Trinity is a relevant part of the gospels, and the epistles. I could write more on this fact of the trinity, but I think it is sufficient to notify you that I do not negate the Trinity in any way, shape, or form.
Having said this, I can understand why you are not ready to move beyond the tradition that has been set for many, many years. So I will not attempt to introduce you any further in thought on this matter..

Dr. Michael S. Heiser is a world-class scholar of Semitic languages and the preeminent expert on the Divine Council (not Counsel). Here are his credentials, which speak for themselves: http://drmsh.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/MHeiserCV-1.pdf.

An entire section of his website is devoted to the Divine Council, with many resources: http://www.thedivinecouncil.com/. This is as extensive and scholarly a discussion of the Divine Council as it is possible to find: http://www.thedivinecouncil.com/DivineCouncilLBD.pdf.

It may be uncomfortable reading for some species of Christians, but it is a definitive and enlightening explanation of the way the OT Jews understood the Divine Council and the being we now think of as God the Father.

We can't just plug the Hebrew names into a translation of the NT and claim that this illuminates anything. If we are going to dive into the Bible at this level - which I'm not, I just happen to be familiar with Dr. Heiser for other reasons - we really need to know what we're talking about. Otherwise, as the saying goes, a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing.

I read some of the DivineCouncil.com on that pdf. file, and I'm sorry but I had to laugh. It kinda reminded by something that Paul wrote to the Corinthians 1Cor. 4: 6 Now these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and Apollos for your sakes; that in us ye might learn not to go beyond the things which are written; that no one of you be puffed up for the one against the other..

God didn't leave His word, without a witness to the Truth that it bears.

And the Lord knows you don't have to know Greek or Hebrew to understand the Spiritual context of the bible. The Israelite's knew the reality of God, they had their prayers answered, they heard what He had to say, through their prophets, they saw the miracles performed for them, but the one thing they couldn't do was come to KNOW HIM, in a personal way.

Dr. Heiser maybe a world class scholar of semitic languages,, but spiritual, I have cause to wonder.
