Bible Study Knowing God As Father

In light of what you said, and this thread "Knowing God as Father", would you consider it pointless to be humble and meek before the Father?
Do you think that is what the Lord, would want from His sons. He wants respectful sons and daughters, obediant and able to stand before Him, or with Him, in battle against the wiles of the enemy. He wants sons or daughters to sit at council with Him at the table, conversing with Him. He wants fellowship with His sons and daughters as mature adults can fellowship with their natural father.

Philliippians 3: 10 that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming conformed unto his death;
As Paul, I too tasted of His death. And I wouldn't want even an enemy to go through that kind of death!

Truth is the ultimate weapon.
Perhaps you may have stabbed yourself by inadvertently admitting that it is pointless to be humble and meek before the Father.
Where there is humility, humiliation, or humbleness, there is truth.

The truth is, one can remain obedient, respectful and courageous while remaining humble and meek. Even more so because it is the humble and meek who see the truth, and become doubtless and fearless. They desire to be humble and meek, for it is knowing the Truth that God is Father. Without the Father they would not be.

But of course you are flying above those that are at ground level, and you can see the difference.
Perhaps you are the only one flying around as a beautiful monarch butterfly . . all alone.

Ha ha,,,,,,only eagles fly high and alone. Sparrows gather in flocks but not so high.
Hermit you don't know what your missing. Jesus said He is the Truth. There is a time to be humble, and meek, and silent, and there is a time to put on the mantle, and the armour, and take the sword..... There is a time, like a natural father, to be loving, and cordial, but also strong in defence, and discipline. There is a time, and place, for what you are called upon to be... Night Hermit!

You know it is like the two Christians that were wrangling over was jesus hung on a tree, or a cross.. Until a third Christina stepped in and said," What does it matter what He was hung on, it could be a barn door, it's not what He was hung on, but WHY!
This conversation over Perfect, and Mature, and Perfecting is the same thing. We are seen as Perfect in the eyes of Christ, but in the process of manifesting that perfection.
I'm 75 years old, I feel that I am mature, but I have many more years of maturing.
Hi barelohim, I prefer to use the word, "Righteous", (1 Cor. 1:29-31) So that no one may boast in His presence. It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God: our righteousness, Holiness and redemption: Therefor, as it is written: "Let him who boast boast in the Lord".

If you consider feeling superior above others, as missing out, you can have it.
Herm, not superior, just that there is more, alot more to being in Christ than most even think. And just as Jesus had a tough time getting those He met to receive the Truth, so it seems with me.

Doug, do you not think that I am fully aware of what I am, I am through Christ? Even as Paul, ' it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me." I will boast in His presence of how great He is, how worthy of all praise and worship and honor He is. But I approach Him as my Father, My Friend that sticks closer than a brother, and My Brother, My Shepherd, My Advocate, My bridegroom, and His Bride, yes, I see myself as His bride, and my beloved loves me, and has adornments chosen for His Bride. When I see " husbands love your wives," I see Him loving me as His wife. More, more, alot more to be received.

Hi barelohim, Yes I do think you are aware, I was supporting you with Scripture. It was mentioned that it is not us in Christ, but Christ in us, but it is really the same thing, as Paul said in the Scripture I sent you where Paul does say, (1 Cor. 1:29-31) So that no one may boast in His presence. It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, ......me too :o)

The difficulty of fellowship in anonymous venues like an internet address is that we're not looking one another in the face when we speak.
Therefore a great many things can be said by a great many people who don't have to worry about being known for saying them.
I'm not as old as you are however, I respect that you are sharing your faith with sincerity here.
The issue I've encountered among members of Bible study that we've attended is similar to the atmosphere developing here. There are those who feel an intimate bond with the spirit of God in Christ. And there are those who are consumed with obedience to the rule book they see is the Bible.
Makes for an interesting panel.
I think your posting is very personal and I appreciate you sharing it. I also think it would enjoy peace and freedom of expression as a personal testimony if it were in your personal blog. If those are available here. Rather than in a place that from what I read is to be for easy conversation, while in this case seems to be becoming something quite the opposite.

Again, thank you for sharing your journey.

Thank You Sunfly, much appreciated. You many years ago the Lord said to me, " Because you seek to do Righteousness, I will Justify you, in what you say!" So as long as I'm putting it out there in truthfulness, He will and He has justified me, by one or two witnesses to what I've said. So thank you Sunfly, you are one of those witnesses.

Gal 4:6 . . And because you are sons, God has sent forth the spirit of His son into your hearts calling out: Abba! Father.

That passage reveals something very important. The spirit of God's son always compels Christ's believing followers to call out to his Father, never to his mother, and the reason for that is actually quite simple. Christ always prays to his Father; never to his mother; ergo: the Father's children exhibit the very same behavior because the spirit of His son compels them to pray like His son.

That, by the way, is a pretty good litmus test. If somebody is comfortable praying to The Lord's mom or to a patron saint, it's a pretty good indicator that the spirit of the Father's son is not in them because His son would never do something like that; nor would he ever encourage others to.

The Bible instructs Christ's believing followers to pray in the Spirit (Eph 6:18, Jude 1:20). When people pray in the Spirit; they pray in accordance with Mark 14:35-36, Gal 4:6, and Rom 8:15. In other words: they don't pray to Mary and/or angels and/or departed saints; no, they pray to the son's Father.

Bottom line: God's kin should feel an overwhelming compulsion to pray to their Father without their having to be told to. It should come naturally (so to speak), just as naturally as it came to Jesus. And they should feel an equally overwhelming disregard for praying to somebody else.

So then, people with a habit of praying to Mary, and/or angels, and/or departed saints; obviously don't the spirit of God's son in their heart; that is a very serious condition to be in.

Rom 8:9 . . If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.
